Really nice hotel, in a very good location.
My reservation had breakfast included and I can say it was the best breakfast I ever had at a hotel (Italy, Germany, Aruba, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Ecuador, Mexico etc. Been there and no breakfast compares to this one). By the way, this is a full breakfast buffet; Mangu, yuca, platanito, pastelon, fruits, juices, cheese bar, blah blah blah. (Yes, theres also pancake, and eggs, bacon, etc, for those looking for a more continental-breakfast type of experience). The gym was nice, the pool area had a great view, and overall the hotel was pretty cool (make sure to stay on the new tower) The service was also very friendly.

A great Value
The Jaragua was a very nice stay. It is a great value for Santo Domingo. The pool and grounds are fantastic and the tower rooms are great!. The breakfast was wonderful. We had a great time New Years Eve, dinner was very nice. The Jaragua is not as new or plush as some other hotels in the DR but they put in one of the most comfortable beds I have had a hotel, it is a great value.

Over rated and Over price hotel
This hotel is not what it used to be. I have stayed here many times in the past but I will never stay here again. Tourists who come here for the first time may think its ok but they have no past experience of being in this hotel or other hotels. Rooms are outdated, bathrooms while clean but are no beter than a motel bathroom except even motels offer coffe makers but the Juarqua doesnt. The hallways are dirty, the television set was old and did not work properly. The workers in the restaurants are great but the security staff was very rude. The walls of the hotel rooms are very thin, this last trip I was on a high floor and you could still hear the noise from the casino. I spoke to hotel management and they just dont care they just want your money, they are totally useless. Save yourself time and money and go to one of the other hotels. If you need to be on the Malecon go to the Hilton, InterContinental or Melia. The Occidental on Avenida Santiago is an excellent choice plus the neighborhood is much better with more stores and restaurants. Dont go to the Jauraqua
