Even the great reviews won’t prepare you

I obsessively read each of the previous reviews for this hotel and other properties. At one point, I considered that I shouldn’t read any more reviews because I might miss out on the delightfully wonderful surprises. Not. You really do have to experience it. My husband did not read the reviews; he’s also not impressed with much of anything... except La Amada Hotel. Everything that everyone said before us is true. We enjoyed the food. I should note, however, that my husband is vegetarian and would have appreciated more options. By the way, we were at the hotel for our ENTIRE trip due to stormy weather. This was an unexpected disappointment, but we’re a young professional couple and benefitted from the relaxing days and a few trips to the amazing spa. We took advantage of the specials pretty much whenever we wanted :-) Given that the weather was so bad, it would have been nice to be in the hotel distract to (maybe) venture off, but I’m not sure if that’s a fair assessment. We still may have stayed put (and the La Amada was a delightful place to be "stuck").

La Amada deserves 6 stars

Beautiful hotel with its own beach, restaurants, pools etc. The rooms and service are exquisite! Ask the concierge for the golf cart tour of the 3000 acres grounds (golf course, other hotel, private harbor, anaconda snake, parrots, flamingos, and condominiums. It is free and provides insight into the development and history of the area. About an hour to hour and a half.

At the airport you will be swamped by "official tourist" assistants in blue shirts. These are nothing but hucksters for realtors/developers and tourist excursions. They will give you sales pitches. Skip right past them and save yourself a lot of time. Call the hotel ahead and have them send a taxi. It will cost $35 for a taxi to the hotel from the airport in a taxi provided by the hotel. At the airport the huckster taxi/van ride is $80 to the airport.

For someone who travels for their job and lives in hotels...this hotel exceeds all expectations!

This hotel goes above and beyond making your stay a memorable one. From the glass of champagne upon our arrival to the conceierge who went above and beyond to send us to the best places, I would go back tomorrow if I could. This is truly a place for you to relax and enjoy the quiet of a luxury vacation. I would give them 5 stars plus if it was posssible.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t expect party central if you are the wild and crazy type. The hotel is so tranquil.

Most Amazing Vacation Ever!

La Amada is an amazing hotel, great service and away from the crowded hotel zone. I was treated like a queen from the moment I arrived. I will only stay at the hotel from now on when I visit Cancun. I can’t wait to go back and be treated like royalty.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Go to Sam’s club or Walmart for snacks for the room.

Luxury, Luxury, Luxury & Service

This Hotel is Pure Unadulterated Luxurious from the moment you step in the front door. My girl friend and I stayed for 4 nights. Truly wish it was a month. The accommodation are nothing short of Spectacular on every level. Service to die for, the people make it great! From David, Pablo, Andrea the whole gang pampered us all the way. My girlfriend Paula was mesmerized the beauty of this hotel. We had a Swim-Up Suite which was private and more than what we expected. The reviews did not lie. I’m hooked, never will stay anywhere else when vacationing in cancun, Mexico. That’s The Godspel... The Real Deal. Lam Amada Staff, we Thank You Dan & Paula Miami, FL.

Wonderful Place for Honeymooners

We visited cancun on September 15th 2009 we spend 7 nights for our Honeymoon, it was great, Service is great, the rooms are even better than the pictures, all the staff is very attentive and i dont know how they do it but many of them call you by your last name, Pools are awsome, it appeared that we had the whole hotel for ourselves, it was sooo clean and new, breakfast buffet is great, absolutely gourmet, no eggs though. Overall is a great place to rest and relax, the beach is great and far from all the noise of the town. I want to go back soon

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Rent a car, the complex is far from town. Get an small ice chest for drinks (can be expensive at the hotel) and lunch at Mandinga’s in puerto juarez, make sure to ask for habanero salsa!!

La Amada is absolutely La Amazing!!

We absolutely loved every moment of our 6 night stay at La Amada. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating in every possible way. They knew our names within a day.The hotel is very new, our room very spacious, comfortable, and immaculate. The terrace with the plunge pool and three (yes,3!!) outdoor beds/lounges was amazing. The circular whirlpool opened from the indoors to the outdoors on two sides. The views were incredible. If you want to go to the Cancun for the nightlife, have many restaurant choices, etc., you need to stay in the hotel zone in Cancun. If you want a romantic, relaxing getaway, La Amada is where you must go. The staff and/or concierge at can help make arrangements for additional activities or excursions. A visit to the spa is a must!! There are only two restaurants on the property at this time but we did not find that a problem. If you do want diversity and want to go to Cancun or other nearby attractions you can rent a car for a day for approximately $45.00 USD. It will be available at the hotel within minutes. There are also taxis available at the hotel. We rented a car and visited Playa del Carmen one day. We had stayed in the hotel zone in Cancun on a previous vacation but our stay did not compare with our vacation at La Amada. Go to La Amada, relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy!! Our fondest regards to the La Amada staff. We look forward to returning soon!!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Last pieces of advise: try to make arrangements with the hotel for getting to the hotel from the airport to the hotel. It is only $35.00 USD. If you take a taxi from the airport it is going to cost you $80.00 USD. Don’t fall for all the solicitors at the airport trying to get you to book excursions. Your hotel concierge can assist with that!!

Best Hotel I’ve Ever Stayed In

My girlfriend and I went down to Cancun to escape the hectic pace of our lives. We didn’t know exactly what to expect from the La Amada...from the pictures, it looked very artsy and not my style at all, but it had positive reviews and was apart from all the other hotels on the Zona Hotelera (where all the hotels are in Cancun), so I booked us a room for a week. Walking into the hotel, we were greeted by a very energetic, smiling man, who after valeting our car, escorted us inside and served us champagne while we checked in. The room was incredible, the staff was perfect (especially Pablo and Alberto, two of the waiters), and the resort was run with military precision. Both my girlfriend and I looked for things to criticize; my girlfriend has stayed in MANY 5-star hotels, and is a sharp critic. However, we couldn’t find a single thing to criticize...everything was perfect. If you go, make sure to tip; I work in the service industry, and they provide the best service I have ever seen in my life. The restaurants are not expensive, the food is incredible (especially the ceviche), the pools are beautiful, the rooms are luxurious, the Lupita Lounge (where you can hang out and listen to live music nightly) was beautifully engineered, and the spa was out-of-this-world. I cannot recommend this hotel enough...out of a 5-star scale, this resort gets 10 stars.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Rent a car. Drive to Tulum and Xcaret...Xplor (the park in Xcaret) is so much fun. We went on the Zipline (there are 14 Ziplines scattered throughout the park), the cave swim, and the amphibious vehicles. Tulum is amazing too...there are ancient Mayan ruins overlooking a beautiful beach. Make sure to take a swimming suit so you can swim there too.

Redefines 5 star

I have stayed in numerous 5 star hotel but none as beautiful, well kept and at so much of a reasonable value as the Amada. The hotel in prestine. The service is great and informative. The hotel is away from the tourist zone and I would definitely reccomend that you rent a car, but it is so worth it! Can’t wait to go back.

Traveler's tip

Take bug repellent. Mosquitos are rampant

Would go back without question

Fabulous, a cross between Arabic and eastern european architecture (it works). Service impeccable, the included breakfast buffet leaves you only needing one more meal, if that. We rented a car and did not find any problem navigating Cancun (we are used to driving overseas however). We got our own tequila, some really good, reasonable Spanish and Argentiian wines, limes, etc at the local supermarket

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Highly recommend trip to Isla Mujeres, rent a golf cart from Gomar, and tour the island. Some great little bed and breakfasts with little tiki bars and restaurants in eastern side of island. Also enjoyed Xel-ha, although it was two hours south by car.

Out of the way private resort

This is a very nice facility with a great staff. You will be pampered here. The hot tub in the window is only large enough for one small person. The beach is very groomed and the water is as clear as anywhere north of Playa Del Carmen. Cancun is very nervous about swimmers who venture out beyond close proximity to their beaches. This can be annoying, bet it is the way of the area. If you are a serious snorkeler I would recommend the Pacific side. You are more free to swim at your own risk.

Excellent hotel

It is a new hotel, excellent taste, modern and comfortable. It is 15 min from Cancun son you get a more natural environment. It is also a new developed area, in front of isla mujeres, but still on the continent.

Relax and Enjoy

My wife and I stayed at La Amada for six nights in the middle of August. The resort is about 40 minutes from the airport and 15-20 minutes north of downtown Cancun. It’s located a world away from the hubbub of Cancun’s hotel zone, which is exactly what we were looking for. We were greeted with champagne and provided with wonderful service during our entire stay. Our room was cleaned twice a day, with turn down service at night. August is the low season for Cancun and it felt like we had the hotel to ourselves at times. We always had our pick of poolside beds or seaside chairs. Restaurant service was prompt. Breakfast was included with our room - and we ate enough for two meals every day. It featured a different fruit and treat from "Grandma’s corner" every day. La Amada also has a beautiful spa. All beaches in Mexico are public but La Amada’s location makes its beach extremely private. It’s not as blue or expansive as the La Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres (well worth the trip) but it comes without the barrage of entrepreneurs too! The only downside - which was an upside for us - that I could see for folks is its distance from downtown Cancun. A taxi ride costs about $30 round trip (without tip). If you want to go out each night, then I’d recommend the hotel zone. Otherwise, enjoy relaxing at La Amada.

Definitely 5 star Hotel- The Best

We have been travelling lately but never experience a very warm reception like this, the people here are very hospitable, the rooms are super clean and the food was great. Don’t know why it’s only 4.5 star, this should definitley be in the 5 star rating. Although it’s a little bit far from civilization, but if you are looking for some relaxation and pampering, this is the place to be, the food was great and not expesive at all, the gourmet breakfast was very impressive not your typical egg and bacon. The facilities are all 5 stars. We will definitely go back. Book the swim up suite and you will be satisfied. This hotel was pretty brand new and cannot say enough about their staff’s friendliness but courteous. The beach was very quiet, not a lot of waves,we love the set up of the cabanas by the pool and also by the beach. Very private and no people selling you stuffs. just pure relaxation, top hotel in our list.

Traveler's tip on dining

Book the free goument breakfast, it was a treat. Have lunch at the Isla grill, not expensive at all and the food was good.

Best hotel we’ve stayed in - ever!

Without wanting to repeat all the other great comments about this hotel, I would say that the service was amazing (Francisco remembered our room # and name after only one meal !!), the maids did a fabulous job consistently both mid-day and at turn-down (they left a chocolate egg with a surprise toy inside every night for our daughter), and the food was great. Oh, and we did use the sofa bed, and it was at least as comfortable as the regular beds (there was no bar underneath, and the mattress was cushy). The pools were always immaculate, and we noticed periodic chemical testing, which is always appreciated. The Kids Club was free, and our daughter went there daily, generally for a few hours. Africa was the teacher, and she was really great with the kids. They have an hourly schedule (which they stick to loosely) of fun things for the kids. We are not ones to leave our daughter with strangers, especially in a foreign country, but after the first day, we couldn’t have felt more relaxed about dropping her off. As for the spa - it was simply divine. I recommend purchasing a pedicure, since it comes with the Agua Viva treatment, which should not be passed up...it includes a scalp, next & shoulder massage at the end. It was quite an experience and makes for good stories later.

Traveler's tip on dining

We booked a private shuttle (not through the hotel) and paid a little extra for a stop at Sam’s Club, and stocked up on snacks & drinks. Lunch was generally optional after an exquisite breakfast buffet. We enjoyed a poolside lunch - highly recommend the nachos w/extra beans & cheese. It easily feeds two. While La Aroma had a great dinner (I recommend the Mexican fare), we started skipping lunch and ate at about 5pm at Isla Grill, which closes at 6pm - the view is spectacular.

Amazing!!

Everything about this hotel is absolutely amazing. From the moment we were dropped off at the front door to our sad departure back to work we couldn’t have asked for anything better. Rooms: Immaculate and wonderfully designed. The shower and jacuzzi tub were some of the nicest I have seen. Pool: 3 beautiful pools with great service. Beach: Perfect. Food: The restaurants had great food for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The only warning I have is if you are looking for the normal Cancun party scene don’t stay here. But if you want to relax and still be close enough to Cancun to partake in some excursions then this is the place to go.

Loved the hotel. Stayed 8/8-8/14. Very impressed. Staff were extremely courteous and always had a smile. My husband golfed at the golf club nearby. Restaurant was fabulous and the presentation was excellent. Breakfast was superb. If you want luxury, attention, gourmet food, huge accomodations, please go. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent place to stay

It was my first time in Cancun with my 2 sons and at first I was a bit concerned about the location as it is on the other side of the hotel zone but, no regrets I really recommend the hotel it is fantastic. Hotel staff were really helpful - we lost one bag on our way there and they dealt with the airline until it was found and delivered. Food was great, and hospitality excellent. We are really looking forward to going back. If you check their website it is exactly as they described it.
