Cant wait to go back!
The St. Regis Grand Hotel was perfect for our wonderful stay in Roma. Very conveniently located. We used the trains, metro and taxis daily. Weve stayed in many foreign hotels and none were as "grand" as this. It was as close to a very nice US hotel as youll find. It caters to diplomates and the King and Queen of Jordan and President of Egypt were staying there. The President of Italy visited one day as well. Several excellent restaurants within a block or two. Baroque basillacas across the street. Very safe area. And the hotel staff was awesome. They speak perfect English and were extremely helpful confirming and making reservations. We will definitely stay there next time.
April or October are best for travelling to Roma and points South. Tourists are gone, lines are non-existent, weather perfect.

"When in Rome..."
This was my first visit to Rome and it was absolutely amazing. Everyone at the St. Regis were very nice and extremely helpful with tours, etc. and the service was excellent. The rooms were more spacious that I thought they would be and very comfortable not to mention beautifully decorated! The hotel itself was gorgeous and in the evenings we enjoyed lounging in the piano lobby listening to beautiful music after a long day discovering Rome. Im quite pleased that we selected the St. Regis Grand Hotel for our 4 night stay in Rome and would highly recommend it.
The weather in October was perfect (mid 70s and mostly sunny) and not too crowded as the summer months. The mild temperature made it pleasant for outdoor dining and evening strolls.

Excellent Hotel in Roma
This hotel dont come cheap, but its totally worth it if you can find a good deal, say on Expedia and if youre not staying too long. I booked this hotel for 6 nights on our 3 week honeymoon in Italy. Its a very ritzy hotel with all the amenities. We really didnt spend much time in the hotel because when in rome...you walk and sight see. If $$ is no object, at least temporarily, then I highly recommend you stay there.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
See as much of Rome as physically possible; you can rest when you get back. Its the most amazing city in the world.
