Friendly sevice with a gorgeous view
The hotel staff was a group of twenty-somethings who did everything at the hotel with class and friendliness. They were very accommodating. For example, at dinner I sat at the bar and chatted up the bartender who happened to be the front desk guy the following morning. I mentioned to him that I wanted to go to a beach early in the morning 6-7am. He cautioned me that most taxis were not up that early, but that he would do me a favor. He called from his personal cell phone a friend who drove taxis and scheduled him to pick me up at 7am at the hotel. I will be honest that I did not expect the taxi to show up that early given St. Thomas’ laid back attitude. Anyway, the taxi did show up on time, but he came in his personal car to pick me up because he was not on the clock and his shift did not start until 8am. He said he was doing a favor for the young bartender. Now that is a great example of excellent customer service. When I go back to St. Thomas, I will be staying at the Mafolie Hotel!
