Mark Hopkins cleanliness and maintenance has gone down since the last time we were there. Staff, however, is friendly and helpful.

Its not bad
The hotel is at great location if you don’t mind the hill. You can easily catch the cable car at bottom of the hill, and it drops you off right by the hotel. Union square and China town are very close in walking distance. The concierge and bellman were great. The front desk sometimes was a little slow. During the week days, the hall way is getting pretty noisy in the early morning.

Expected More
This is the Mark Hopkins right? I dont know what happened to friendly service but that didnt exist. The gentleman at the front desk acted as if we were lucky to have him check us in. I also recommend that if you have ANY special requests whatsoever, that you call the hotel and do not rely on the reservation form area where you fill in the requests. The front desk clerks do not review this nor did ours attempt to make things happen for us. Bummed since Ive stayed at this hotel before and expected superior service.

If youre looking forward to going to the ever famous Tonga Room across the street. Call to make a reservation as they are only open Thurs-Sun.
