Quaint hotel, with character in Nice Nob Hill Location
A very cute hotel, on lower Nob Hill, nice price for a great location. Nice French feel to it, with European cookies in the lobby and Edith Piaf playing. Very nice breakfast served in the morning downstairs. My biggest issue with it was checking in and getting in to my room. On arrival, I found I had to check in at the sister hotel a few doors down, and no one was on site to help me with the rather antiquated elevator that did not always work. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, however. If I were up for a bit of adventure and great atmosphere (and not just a smooth, trouble free getaway) I would stay here again.

needs upgrade
I loved Petite Auberge when it was newer and under the Inn of the Three Sisters. Although I still love the location and the general ambience and care taken of the guests, especially with the evening reception and breakfast, the hotel is sorely in need of new carpets (or even just thoroughly cleaned carpets) and newer everything. Definitely showing its age now. For the same price, I know I can get cleaner, more comfortable, equally-well located lodging. When you renovate, keep the teddy-bear character.
Avoid June; incredibly enough, June is winter weather in San Francisco.
