not at all impressed!

carpet in rooms need to be either cleaned a lot better or totally replaced... rooms look old and dingy.... would not stay again. Also curtains were very hard to open and close.... no good views either...which we had asked for...although it is right in the downtown area and looks somewhat seedy around there. Definately NOT a Quality 5 STAR hotel according to US standards! I would rate this hotel at maybe a 3 star only!

The hotel is centrally located right opposite Tivoli Gardens; simple short train trip from airport

The hotel is in a great location, opposite Tivoli gardens and very central; it is easy to reach by train from the airport. The hotel is quite large and seems to be the tallest building in town and so easy to re-find. Rooms were clean and large. Our corner room had huge windows on two sides giving excellent views. A short walk to the main shopping streets gives a wide range of restaurants and bars. Nice to wander down to the waterfront. Staff at the hotel were very courteous and friendly. Use of the free luggage room facility off the foyer meant we could spend a whole morning siteseeing before taking a cab to our cruise ship.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Tivoli Gardens has rides for the family. We did an evening harbour and canal boat tour, very good. The Mermaid statue is disappointingly small and low key but can also be reached by a nice walk along waterfront.

Mod Decor, Comfortable Bed

The front desk and concierge staff were excellent and very helpful. The decor of the hotel and rooms is totally retro, and you can imagine it looked almost exactly the same when they opened 50 years ago. Location is fabulous: directly across the street from Tivoli, 2 blocks from the pedestrian streets, bars, shops, a 3 minute walk to the central train station, and across the street from the metro. Our room was spacious and comfortable, except for one disturbing thing: there was a smear of some brown substance on the door frame and wall near the bathroom. Frankly I don’t want to know what it was, and it was cleaned right up. Other than that discovery in the first 5 minutes (and that was sort of a big issue) we enjoyed our stay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Copenhagen nightlife is great! To start, I recommend a bike tour with Mike - very knowledgeable and affable. Tours start at bike shop behind the central station - great way to get your bearings. Tivoli is charming: a variety of bands, rides, concessions, games, etc. History buffs will enjoy a the Danish Resistance Museum in Memorial Park (1-2 hours). Try a hot dog from one of the street carts near Tivoli - I thought they were pretty darn good!
