Do not stay for a football game
Although we enjoyed our large room and the convenience to Autzen, it was disappointing that we could not check in before the game (which started at 7:30 pm) despite arriving at 10:00 am and being told we could check in by 3 or 4. When we returned from the game about 11:15 pm along with a number of others who also attended the game and needed to check-in, there was only one very patient gentleman at the front desk. Although there is a sign stating they cannot promise a check-in on game day before 4 pm at the desk, this information was not available when the reservations were made and it made for a VERY long day for my family.

Definitely stay at Valley River Inn
While the hotel may b showing its age, it more than makes up in service and comfort. There is an outstanding on-site restaurant where we sat overlooking the river at sunset. I am already planning a return trip, but for pleasure this time!

Hotel checked us into a room of lessor quality than ordered, but quickly switched us to the right room. When I was there in March they offered Continental breakfast.
