Nice hotel in the hearth of London
This hotel is very close to Grosvenor square in the hearth of :London. The location of the hotel is in front of Hyde park and it is in the area which is not too noisy or crowded. Oxford street is only a short walk away and so is the underground. The Paddington station were all the out bound trains to the other cities is about 2 to 3 miles away. Overall this hotel was like a home and I really liked my stay there. One thing however, there are three Marriott hotel in the close proximity of each other in London. Most cab drivers don’t know about this hotel and they get confused. Also the entrance on the Park Ave. says Grousvenor House and not WJ Marriott and that is another source of confusion.

Great location, but two fire alarms in five days ....
Lobby, bar areas, design was fabulous. Location was fantastic across from Hyde Park and short distances to many London highlights. Room was elegant, clean and like many European hotels, small in size. However, 2 out of our 5 nights we had a fire alarm go off in the hotel during the middle of the night/early morning. I mentioned it the first time to the staff and was mildly mocked for asking whether I could expect to see it happen again ... and it happened again our final night. While the staff apologized for the inconvenience, I go on vacation to relax and two times in five days is unacceptable in my opinion. But for the incidents, would’ve been a nice stay and value. The Marriott did not offer a free night, free meal or any token of sympathy for ruining two nights of sleep.
Traveler's tip on shopping
Bond Street is great for shopping, but keep in mind the shops close at 5pm. Also, if you’ve been to London before and want to try a few neighborhoods that have great shops, restaurants ambience, yet non-tourist locations, try Shoreditch (more bohemian) and Islington (more upscale).

One of Marriotts Best Hotels in World
This hotel is 5 star in every category. The accomodations, the staff, and the location are all top rated. I have stayed in many JW Marriott’s and this ranks with the best. Looking forward to our next visit. And the rate I got through Expedia was fantastic.
