Never Again
I wanted to like it - our rooms were enormous, especially for NYC, and they had decent views (though not of neighboring Central Park.) The location is convenient too. But the hotel is terribly in need of rehab. The stench of stale cigarette smoke remained on our clothes after only one night in the closet. In one bathroom the shower head hung limply; in the other bathroom the toilet did not always flush. The bathroom floor had permanent stains, and the desk chair was falling apart. Pillows were skimpy, though the mattress was comfortable. And though I never bother paying for overpriced mini-bar items, in this case, there was barely anything to choose from (plus a funky motion detector set-up which would charge for something after being removed for only 20 seconds.) Yuck, all around.

Great Location
I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and have been satisfied with the experience, and especially happy with the location. One drawback is that I cannot accumulate any airline miles, but I can give that up to be able to easily walk to my meetings and shopping (if there is time).
Sarabeths restaurant right next door is a good place to eat, especially when the weather is nice as I like to sit outside and watch the activity on the street and the park.

Park Lane Hooray!
The grand old lady is always home base on our trips to NYC. Never disappoints. Had the best room we have ever had on this trip but was pricey. (high season). Is there a better location in New York? I dont think so. Broadway plays, the Met, Rue 57, cocktails in the oak room, Jazz, snow in Central Park, Window (and actual) shopping...gotta say it was pretty much a perfect trip. While a bad hotel would have ruined it, the Park Central served as the perfect frame around New York at its best time of year.
We love Rue 57.
