one of the best Ive ever stayed at
It was a perfect vacation from start to finish. The room was one you dream of with a bay window of the Chicago theater sign. The food was great! (Really $$, but good). The hotel used to be an office building way back when and there are cute little reminders. My room had a "mail slot" and an old fashion phone in the hallway. Next to everything. I walked back from the theater in the snow, past mill. park. It was magical

A Great Loop Hotel
The Burnham is in a completely renovated historic bank building. Lots of architectural detail, especially on the upper floors. It is a Kimpton Hotel which means its heavy on customer service, with details like The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal waiting for guests in the lobby each morning along with a hot cup of coffee. Theres a wine service every afternoon, also in the lobby which is small but very comfortable. The hotel boasts a good restaurant, a small but adequate workout room, wonderful linens, plush robes, simply great service from a very friendly staff. And you cant beat the location, inside the Loop at the corner of Washington and State, two blocks to the Art Institute, around the corner from downtown theaters (Jersey Boys was playing when we were there), a short block from the Joffrey Ballet headquarters.

A Great Stay!
The Hotel Burnham was a great place to stay for our visit to Chicago. The staff was the most friendly and responsive of any we have experienced recently in our hotel stays. Our room was somewhat small, but very comfortable with a large window and great decor. We had a great view of quintessential Chicago - the front of Macy;s, the marquee of the Chicago Theater, with the Trump Towers in the background. The location was great for everything we did - within two blocks of the two shows we attended, near the Art Institute, and convenient to the "el" and subways for trips to Chinatown and the Sears Tower. If you stay here and would like to eat in the hotels Atwood Cafe, be sure to reserve ahead. We called at 9:00 AM on a Friday and they were booked up solid until 7:45 PM. We found only one shortcoming. The room could have used another chair so both of us could look out the window.
