My Stay at the Kahala

I chose this hotel because it was rated 5 star. I was very happy because it is more secluded and had a private beach. The rooms were excellent and clean. The staff was outstanding and went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. I recommend the hotel highly.

exceptonal property

Beautiful property and beautiful setting. Five star property; only drawback is golf course which is adjacent to hotel can not be used by hotel guest. Other than that everything is perfect.

A place of beauty and loveliness

From the time I exited my taxie at the enterance of the Kahala to the wave of good-bye days later, I was greeted with smiles, fragrant flowers, cold refreshing washcloths, delectable and scrumptious foods, staff that were efficient and gracious, sea life at the tips of my fingers and a bed that would equal my own. My stay was simply wonderful.

Best Place

Everyone there was great... I proposed to my girlfriend at the Kahala and the staff helped setup everything. We stayed there for a week and traveled all over the island. I liked it also because it was a little off by itself but close to everything. You have to do the dolphin adventure there it was probably the best part of our trip. The staff at the kahala treat you like royalty.

Absolutely Wonderful!

The Kahala Resort was impressive in every way possible. The staff were ALL warm, friendly and attentive to every need - often before we even anticipated it! The grounds are beautiful, the beach quiet and comfortable and the dolphin lagoon and its inhabitants are worth every penny we paid and then some. The location is great as well. We found ourselves going back and forth to Waikiki often, but we really enjoyed the calm and casual atmosphere at the Kahala. It was nice to go back to a more peaceful spot when we were ready to rest and relax. The room was beautiful! We had a "mountain view" - but actually had the best of both worlds in that we also had a large window over our bed that had an ocean view. It just couldn’t have been much better. We will definitely plan to stay there again when we go with the whole extended family!

did not want to ever leave

the kahala lives up to its class. from the minute we first arrived to the minute we left we received excellent service from an exceptionally friendly staff. and what a beautiful resort it is! what makes it especially great is that it is located in its own secluded area, away from the hustle and bustle of waikiki (but if you want to stay close to that tourist hotspot, then this hotel is probably not the best place to stay). for those traveling with a baby, i would highly recommend the kahala. they provided a crib which our son happily slept in. and they also have a kiddie pool that is absolutely perfect for toddlers of any age. that fact that our son had such a great time at the kahala, made our stay that much more enjoyable.

Beautiful Hotel in quiet setting

Hotel is in residential neighborhood, but an easy drive to Wikiki. Good restaurants at the hotel.

Lots of families here. The kids will love the dolphins, turtles and fish in the special pools. Older teens might get bored as there is not the excitement or range of activities available at Wikiki.

Absolutely amazing!!

This place is absolutely amazing! From the views to the staff to the hotel itself, it was wonderful. I can’t wait to go back!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There are 3 restaurants there. Eating there once or twice is nice. However, they are VERY expensive!!! You can find much cheaper food a short distance away in town.

Be pampered and spoiled

Be prepared to be pampered in this luxurious and amazing getaway. Excellent service and a very friendly staff with goal to please guests. Make sure to use free fitness room AND gender-specific steam, sauna, and jacuzzi room. And take advantage of their complimentary fresh lemonade served at the lobby. Nice change of pace from hectic, bustling Waikiki with a private beach. Heaven on earth!

Definitely a 5 star hotel

Service was great, especially at the Bell Desk/Valet. We took out bikes to ride nearly everyday and they took the time to fit us with helmets, prepared the bikes for us, gave us their number in case of flat tires, and upon coming back, they gave us cold bottled water and towels to cool us down. Could use more people at the concierge, sometimes only one person was on duty. But overall, a hotel that we would go back to anytime.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Go to the beach (at the hotel) during low tide, the water is clam, and you can swim a long way and water still up to your waist. There are corals and fish further out too. Make use of their shuttle to go to Waikiki and two other shopping malls. And also you can bike to a shopping mall for meals.

Great Lodging

This was a great place for our relaxing vacation! If you are looking for an extremely comfortable experience in Hawaii, look no further. The staff went out of their way to cater to our needs and desires. This resort is not ideally located for the individual looking for the late nights or parties. A rental car will help with exploring the island and eliminating the expensive dining options at the resort. However, we wouldn’t change a thing! Good for pure relaxation!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Plan your days if you are a first time visitor. There is a shuttle available to local attractions, however, there are others the shuttle doesn’t hit that are a must! Look into obtaining a rental car. Getting around the island is not difficult and the resort will provide great instructions & maps. The North Shore is a must. Sample the shrimp huts on the side of the road, pretty good.

Wonderful Resort

The Kahala is a great resort. I went here with my wife for our honeymoon. The service was wonderful; everyone was friendly; they even cleaned the room multiple times per day. The availability of a private beach meant we didn’t have to fight with all the other visitors at Waikiki beach. They also have shuttles available to major shopping centers, snorkeling, luaus, etc. The only real drawback is that because it’s a resort (and it’s in Hawaii), it’s fairly pricey. It was worth every penny, though, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly. If I go back to Honolulu, I fully intend to stay at The Kahala.

Kahala

I proposed to my girlfriend and chose Kahala in Jun,2009 due to its vast scenaries and views from the internet. Once arrived I loved every aspect of the hotel and it’s workers. We stayed in the Dolphin Lanai and it was a great view to wake up to everyday. 1 tip of advice though, I thought the Dolphin Quest activity was overly priced for the experience. The water was very dirty once u began to swim inside of it and my fiance was not pleased either. It costed $600 for this adventure for 2 people and we would never do it again or recommend it. Think of it as an overrated petting zoo with dolphins. Dave Chicago, IL

The finest destination in Oahu. Definitely five stars!

The Kahala Hotel is an outstanding resort. The staff goes out of their way to see to your comfort. I was amazed at how well we were treated. Just a friendly reminder, please leave a tip daily for the housekeeping staff. They work very hard to see to the cleanliness and comfort of your room. It really pays off. The hotel’s restaurants are excellent as is the service. The beach is gorgeous and the pools and hot tub are very clean and comfortable. All in all, we loved the place and will be coming back every year.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

There is a lot to do at the hotel and it is a great homebase to see all of the attractions in Oahu.

Only place to stay on Oahu!

My wife and I went to Oahu to sightsee and relax, but didn’t want to put up with all the tourists. The Kahala was the perfect place. The entire place was amazing from the minute we arrived. Our room was better than imagined and the pictures do not fully capture the beauty. The beach and pool area is maintained beautifully and the staff was unremarkable. Don’t be swayed by the location of the resort in reference to other places. It is maybe a 10 minute drive downtown. As far as we are concerned, there is no where else to stay in Oahu but the Kahala and the next time we visit we will be guests of the Kahala again.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Take advantage of the location and spend a day driving around the island. A rental car was definatly the way to go.

You will be impressed!!!

The rooms are gorgeous. The Kahala is clean and everyone there made my wife and I feel like VIP’s from the momment we pulled up. We stayed in a Mountain view room, it wasn’t missing a thing. The decor is just breathtaking in the rooms. His and her bathroom with shower and full bathtub. You will notice all of the little details they put into making your stay comfortable and special. We will not stay anywhere else in Honolulu, that is for sure. Hotel is secluded and safe but close enough to everything.

Traveler's tip on shopping

On Wed. and Sat. from about 9:00-3:00 go to the swap meet at the Stadium. If you want to buy anything this is the place!! Ask any local about it. Bring water, gets hot and there isn’t a whole lot of shade but all the shopping you can find!!

--Totally off the chain

From the moment my husband arrived at the resort till the time we left we were in heaven. The breakfast buffet, the beach, and the staff were all first class. This was vacation we will never forget. Awesome

Traveler's tip on shopping

The shopping in Waikiki is fantastic- there are many great stores and quite a few speciality boutiques. Bring your check book and than some.
