Charming, quaint hotel right next to the action
In the shadow of a massive monastary topped cliff, this hotel radiates old world charm. Right around the corner is the start of a boutique and restaruarnt lined street leading right down to the river and a bridge to the old city. Free tea and cakes every afternoon (or $3 euro draft beers) and a free well stocked DVD library were unexpected. Nice breakfast buffet. The rooms were both pretty and comfortable. I loved the fact that upon checking out I owed nothing more after a two day stay. If you prefer quiet, comfort, charm and friendly service over glitz, doormen, valets and ultraexpensive mini-bars, this is the place to stay in Saltzbrg. P.S. Try to find the semi-hidden stairs to the top of the cliff and a fantastic view of the city below.

Not Impressed, internet pictures disceiving
Although this hotel was clean it was not what I expected from reading about it on the internet, our room was across the small street from the original hotel, we had to carry our luggage up 3 floors of stairs ourselves.

Happy with our choice
My husband, teenage daughter and I recently stayed at the Hotel Wolf-Dietrich.It had a wonderful breakfast, courteous staff and a comfortable room for the three of us. The location is very convient and an easy walk to old town. It was a treat to rest at the hotel in the late afternoon and enjoy the complimentary cake and coffee in the cozy sitting area of the loby. When we checked out very early in the morning, the kind night desk manager made us each a welcomed cup of coffee. I would definetly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Salzburg.
