Excellent Spot -- Can’t Say Enough Good Things

My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon here and had a great time. The Buffalo Mountain Lodge was very supportive, and our room was great. We had a nice high ceiling, a sitting area and a fireplace and all the wood we needed plus a very large bathroom. The views from the deck were also nice. (I can highly recommend Banff NP as well, but that is another story). Anyway, the only modest surprise was the lack of A/C in the units, but if we left a window open during the day the room was fine -- that was more a surprise than a disappointment.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The restaurant(s) at the hotel seemed very nice but expensive. If you want to eat there, try lunchtime menus. Unfortunately, we were in the parks over lunch.

Excellent place to stay

This place is close to the main street (a short hike down or a very short drive), yet far enough for you to feel like you’re staying in a national park - away from the crowds. Place was very clean with good quality bathroom & room fixtures, etc. If you’re lucky, you can get mountain views right from your room. There’s a fireplace in the room, which is always stocked and can be used without issues. We also stayed at a sister property - Emerald Lake Lodge - awesome is understating our stay there - excellent service, although foodis very expensive within the hotel.

Would love to go back again for another one week stay.

Buffalo Mountain Lodge is surrounded by beautiful snow capped mountains, forest pines and a valley to one side that too is set apart by mountains on both sides. The buildings and main lodge are designed to be non-obtrusive and also to blend into the natural scenery. The town of Banff is over a mile away, far enough to be forgotten and not heard, but close enough to get to quickly. Buffalo Mountain Lodge is really a lovely resort.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The walk to Lake Agnes Tea room from Lake Louise is beautiful, but forget the costly tea. Johnston Valley walk with seven waterfalls, even closer, is well worth the time and little bit of effort required. Banff Gondola is a perfect way to spend one afternoon or morning with beautiful views. Don’t miss some of the pub meals in nearby Banff. Melissa’s Restaurant in Banff too is a worthile stop for a meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner.
