Feels Like a Boutique Hotel
This small but cozy hotel is conveniently located, has a hip bar/lobby, and is affordable. It is on a street lined with "budget" hotel/motels, but feels like a step up from the other "Travelodge" type properties. At the same time, it was priced a little bit below the others. I would stay here again. Short walk to the beautiful Monterey pier for great views of marine life. Great little hotel if you are on a budget!

Great location; would stay there in the future
Hotel is located near downtown and the state historic park. Rooms were clean and quiet even though there was a car show going on downtown.

okay to stay
The hotel is in a good location, not in some questionable area. We were situated on the second floor and the room faced the pool. We didnt request this. It was noisy both in the evening and the morning. I didnt really mind this, but my teenage daughter was bothered by it. The room was obviously remodeled in an older structure, but they did a pretty good job. They had some nice extras touches. The colors of the room were calming and pretty. There was a second mirror and chair outside the bathroom to sit and put on make-up, a make-up mirror, a lamp on that table. The shower rod was curved out and gave a spacious feeling in the shower. The bed had a mattress topper, and even though my daughter and I shared the bed, it was comfortable and moving around wasnt bothersome. They had lamps by the bed that had electrical plug-in sockets built-in, nice touch for charging our cell phones. I missed the breakfast, which wasnt free and ended at 10:00. It was $11.99 anyway. But, there was an excellent bakery cafe right outside the entrance to the motel called The Wild Plum. I had a great breakfast there, good coffee, and the next day we stopped by for pastries. The food was REALLY good, healthy and organic. We met up friends that were staying in Carmel. We also had to shop for a few items. The hotel location was fine for all these things. Good for the money. I would stay there again.
