Desert buzz
The hotel was beautiful and the garden flowers just gorgeous. I don’t usually like yellow but the way they used this color and white was beautiful. The mountain views were stunning. It’s a great location as well. Near everything including many restaurants and shops but it’s also set back enough that the noise from the strip is minimal. We stayed in an interior cabana so it was quiet. There was a wedding going one evening but it was so festive and we stay up late anyway. There’s enough buzz in the bar and dinner areas to contribute to a festive atmosphere which we liked. The guys at the front desk were so incredibly helpful. We got directions and recommendations for all our needs. We recommend the Viceroy. One downside was the sofa and rug in our cabana may need to be replaced soon. Other than that perfection.
Parking fee is wrapped into the cost of the room so no worries about an extra fee.

Go in winter, summer heat is well over 100 degrees. Beautiful retro architecture at the Vicerory and the town of Palm Springs.

Stunning Design, Delinquent Service
This was my second stay at the Viceroy. I came back because I got a credit from my first visit for some serious service issues. I went back with trepidation and won’t go back again. The grounds are stunning. The rooms are well designed. There are 3 pools and I had a free private yoga lesson. The Estrella spa is good...I had a better facial than expected. What’s lacking? The service. You have to push to get a bill. Why? Because if you don’t sign they automatically tack on a 20% tip. So they’d rather you didn’t ask. I always tip 20% but want an itemized list. Both times that I stayed there, I had to push for it and there were charges on my bill that didn’t belong to me. I was able to fight the charges then and there but if I had waited or not stopped to check my final bill I would have paid a lot more than I was owed. And, it’s not just me. Every time I’ve checked out there are people complaining about their bill. Plus, it takes about 20 minutes to get a drink after orering and at least 45 minutes for food...including salad. So if you want the Kelly Wearstler experience just be sure to pay attention to every bill and order at least a half hour before you get really hungry!
