Nicely Modernized Classic Hotel
Coming from Southern California, its funny to walk into a Hollywood-themed 1920-1930s grand hotel in Oregon. It would be very fitting in Los Angeles or New York, maybe. But the old place is well kept, the modernizations are well done, and the old charm remains. The Driftwood Bar in the lobby is a time-capsule remnant of the Ron Burgundy 70s. Really amazing. Try the Liz Taylor--a house specialty. Portlands a pretty compact downtown, so everything is within walking distance (the blocks in Portland are famously short). The trolley runs nearby, so its possible to arrive and take that into town from the airport and avoid taxis and car rentals. The DeLuxe was a great place to stay for my wife and I.

Ive found MY hotel in Portland!
This place was amazing! The staff were extremely friendly and professional. I am super picky and tend to scrutinize the little things, but I really have no complaints about the hotel itself. I was visiting Portland for a conference, and the only complaint that I have regarding the hotel is location. You have to walk 4-ish blocks to get into the "Fareless Sqaure" and at least as far to get to any quickie restaurants. That said, I had the best looking calves by the time I left. Portland is a great city for walking! Oh, and....when it happened to be raining the morning that I left, I was given a complimentary umbrella--a really nice, big, black one with a curved wooden handle!
If you happen to take several modes of public transportation to venture into NE Portland to go to a kitschy little breakfast place called Gravy, make sure you have enough money for bus fare to get back to the convention center area. The two mile trek back can be quite the adventure!
