Depends on how you define ’close’
The key feature of a DC area hotel is Metro access (usually). According to a map, this hotel is close to Dupont Circle. While this is true, the hotel is about 3/4 of the way up the hill that runs from Dupont to Adams Morgan. At the end of a long day of doing to tourist thing and walking up and down the Mall, it can be a real pain. Not a deal breaker, but know before you go (ie if you were planning on pushing GrandMa’s wheelchair around, forget about it).
Flying into/out of DCA saves you so many headaches; walk from the plane to the train and pop out blocks from the hotel (just remember its uphill with your luggage)

A Great Deal
I recently stayed at this hotel with a group of friend for a long weekend. A great deal. Good location (just a couple of walkable blocks to Dupont Circle), and reasonably priced rooms. Also, the hotel staff was especially courteous and helpful.

something funny
I had confirmed breakfast included, proof in email, thank goodness had computer with me. Manager was not going to honor this, and was very unhelpful. Only after 15-20 minutes, requesting that he give me his name (he was not wearing name tag), he wrote me a chit for breakfast, and never gave me his name.
