A Bit of a Letdown
The Homestead isnt living up to its 4-star reputation. Our room was adequate, at best, even though the desk clerk gave us an "upgrade." I shudder to think how our stay would have been had we not been upgraded. Our biggest disappointment was certainly the below average quality of the food served in the Dining Room. The experience was far from what we expected. From appetizers to desserts, the dishes fell flat. I can best describe the food in two words: overpriced and overdone. Because of this less-than-memorable dining experience, we chose not to pay the premium to try the highly-touted 1766 Grille. The golf courses appear to be outstanding. Unfortunately we didnt get to play. The Homestead may be the right choice for a golfing vacation, but I wouldnt recommend it as a fine dining destination.

We had a pleasant stay.
This was a well-run hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff went out of its way to be friendly and helpful.
Traveler's tip on dining
The dining rooms are expensive, though when we were there, there was an evening buffet that was reasonably priced. Also, there are some restaurants in the area that are less expensive .

Pricey, but nice.
Everything was perfect. We were on vacation for our anniversary, and treated ourselves to this luxurious hotel. I dont think I would stay there for a routine occasion, because of the price. Expedias price was great, because it didnt include the resort fee ($20-40, I think).
