Too small and noisy
I lost a lot of sleep here as there was lots of noisy before 6:00 A.M. every morning from staff and customers dragging their bags and carts over the tile floor of the courtkyard leading from the rooms to the lobby. The landscaping in the couryard was beautiful. I was told by the on-site restaurant that I could not use my discout coupon that the hotel gave me. The rooms were small, you had to ask for a coffee machine and the parking was limited.

not impressed
near airport, just to see vulcano and mouna kea summit if you rent a car.

Better than I expected
Me and my girlfriend wanted to explore the east side of the Big Island and as it turned out all the hotels in Hilo had a two star rating. After reading the reviews here I was prepaired for the worst but once we got there, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were nice, there was free parking and most importantly our room was clean and the bed was comfy. Yes, the amenities were very basic and the room wasn’t big but if you’re not planning on spending your days in the hotel, and why would you if you’re a tourist, then it’s perfectly acceptable. The location is very convenient if you want to explore that part of the island. It’s not far from Mauna Kea as well as the Volcanoes National Park and the Waimanu Valley. There is a superb restaurant not far from the hotel called Ken’s Pancakes. All in all it’s a good deal.
