Uncomortable bed/bad room location
We had not paid for a "deluxe" King room, so, I didnt expect a view (which I thought meant wed have a view of the parking lot). Instead, they put us in 1 of only 2 rooms blocked in by the heating/air conditioning unit; not only did we not have a view, we had a view of a fence. We heard the unit go on/off several times every night. We were 1 level up from the bar, which is significant later. There was no table on our patio, and there were old cigarette butts left there. The hotel is aging; the rooms could probably use an overhaul when the economy improves. They are serviceable, but not comprable to what you could get at a more modern hotel. The bed was hard & way they make it meant we ended up in a tangle of sheets every morning. Besides the cigs, the hotel is clean, and the staff is very nice, though I would have appreciated an upgrade if I knew what was to come next. The hotel is the home of the Saturday Afternoon Club, which means that they host a party there before the UC football games. On this particular weekend, it was besieged by Nebraskans, who were partying from Friday through to Saturday morning. The hotel went from quiet to party central over night. Because we were in the room directly above the bar, we were privy to much of this. So, knowing we were staying a week, and knowing this was coming, why didnt the staff think to give us a higher room to keep us out of the way of all this? I hope this was just poor planning, and not a marker of their overall policies.
We were very happy with "Salt" a relatively new restaurant that has replaced the well known/loved "Toms Tavern." Salt is a locavores dream, and they mix a mean cocktail. Bonus: Salt opened up the basement of the building for drinking/dining - it had only been storage in the Toms Tavern days. Salt is on the edge of the Pearl Street Mall.

Getting tired and old
For what they charge for room rates, the Harvest House should use that money to update/clean up the hotel. Walls and carpets need lots of work throughout.
