Anchorage Grand Hotel
We knew that we were not going to stay at the "Hilton" but we found the hotel within two blocks of the main street for restaurants, travel information etc. Very well located! Staff at check in (1:00am) very prompt and courtious, we didn’t have to wait outside for the night clerk to let us in. Room had a kitchen and we walked to a store recommended by the day clerk for food to cook--cooking wear and dishes provided. Breakfast every morning provided. Day clerk called for taxi on check out date. All staff very friendly, courtious, and hellpful. Would recommend this hotel to others and we would stay there again should we go to Anchorage. Definitely worth it for the cost.

You Better Like Trains
Wonderful hotel except for the trains at night and the tempaerature control (non-existent) in the rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful and go out of their way. Bring ear plugs and open the windows when it gets too warm.
Traveler's tip on dining
Sack’s Cafe, while not inexpensive, offers fabulous dinners nearby. Ask the hotel for directions. Great dining experience!

Great value and location
Nice hotel suite. Pretty much all downtown hotels are near the train track so you can’t really escape the noise of the train. If you are on business and don’t like kids, you might be turned off by the kindergarten/grade school on weekdays. Parking is not on premise. It is an open lot at the end of the block. The parking rate is not free but reasonable.
