Good food and the best drinks

Been going for the last 10 years and gets better everytime! We went for our 35th wedding anniversary and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We had a beautiful ceremony renewing our vows, and our family was there with us to enjoy the moment. Wonderful food and the best drinks with top shelf liquor. Hoping to go back next year and every year after.

Spectacular as always!

This will be our 4th Palace Experience - it is the best! This was our second visit back to Moon Palace and it was just as we remembered. The service is without a doubt genuine and exceptional. Although the size of the Moon Palace may seem intimidating, it’s actually fun to experience all 4 lobbies and areas. You can visit a different area each day and never do the same thing twice. Grand Moon, must be experienced by dining at Los Tacos. They had a very special dinner plannned for our Anniversary - Oh What a Night! The staff and services have in no way been reduced due to the limited occupancy. Our favorite server was Rafeal at the Sunrise pool - 2 years in a row he was a gacious host. The food was delicious and the after dinner coffee drinks are a must. "MAYAN COFFEE" Overall we hated to leave but we will be back next year........Thank you Moon Palace.

moon palace review

We have gone back to the Moon Palace several times. Each time we book the Moon Palace we get the Sunrise which I feel is the nicest. However, this last time we were put in the Moon Palace Niczu. The oceanview was breathtaking however the food and drinks are better at the Sunrise. I can’t complain because the service is excellent at all the Palace resorts. They make you feel like royalty and they really work hard to make your stay memorable. We made sure to tip our waiters and they gave 150% of themselves to make sure everything was absolutely to our satisfaction.

Traveler's tip

Make sure you book directly through the palace resorts for your airport transportation, MUCH LESS than getting it at airport. Take advantage of the included water park tour and make sure you do the swim with the dolphins. It is much nicer now than a few years back. You get a trainer and 2 dolphins to each family for 50 minutes. Check to see if they still have the buy one get one free (BOGO) :)

Service was amazing!!!! We didn’t want to leave...

Everyone in the resort was more than helpful. From the bell service to the room service..from the waiters to the hosts...they really made our stay and our presence feel important..There were numerous activities to do at the resort and if you want to see another resort in their chain(Palace Resorts), you just got on a free shuttle and they would take you, with the same all-inclusive benefits. We choose Moon Palace for our Honeymoon and we lucked out..Overall, we enjoyed our stay and we were extremely satisfied on the service and that fact that everyone seemed to go the extra mile to see that we were taken care of...

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Take advantage of the Free shuttle service to the other Palace Resorts...there our 3 resorts on the main strip..and in all-inclusive packages you get to use your prevledges at all..

Fabulous

Just spent 2 weeks at the Moon Palace. We had never stayed at an all inclusive before and were absolutely amazed. The staff are extremely friendly, the food was great. We had some wonderful meals at La trattoria, El Caribeno, Bambu and Momonohana. I had read some reviews here about food being just ordinary. I couldnt disagree more. We did have one or two meals that were a little disappointing, however the majority were fabulous.Everything was very clean and well maintained. They have thought of everything to make your stay more pleasant. We are already planning a trip back next year. There is only one negative I can think of. My husband played golf while he was there, and they have second hand balls for sale at $1 each but only take cash for them. The new balls are $30 and you can pay by credit card. A little frustrating.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Do the Palace kitchen tour. Very interesting.

Exceptional Service

This was our first trip to Cancun. We are already making plans to return. The Moon Palace was as advertised. The level of service was amazing. They really know how to take care of their guests. The room was spotless and comfortable. the mini bar was restocked everyday. Between the two main sections there were over 12 restaurants from which to choose. We really liked the food. The pools were beautiful and well kept. While it is a large place, getting around was easy. You can use the intra lobby shuttle ,walk,or take a bike. We took the shuttle to two of their other properties and had a great time. The beach is lacking but you can always take the shuttle to the Beach Palace for swimming and a meal. We did.

Moon Palace

Moon Palace is a big hotel that is located off of hotel zone. It will take about 20 minutes on a shuttle that the hotel provides to get to downtown. The food was good and so was the service. A couple of things that were a downer for my husband and I were that the ocean water was full of things that looked like pine needles. The water in front of the hotel was not the "Cancun blue" I was used to seeing. Also the knob to the hot water was extremely hot to the touch when we would shower. Other than those things it was a nice hotel and the employees were courteous.

The best service I have ever received

The room was excellent, the bed comfortable enough to stay in as long as you wanted, the service beyond any I’ve experienced and there is no reason to even leave the resort property. The only negative is there are staff trying to sell you a timeshare the whole time you are there.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The hotel has a great gift shop with good prices. If you take the one of the shopping excursions you are harassed and followed by the local merchants which made me feel very uncomfortable to save a dollar.

Wonderful experience

Every thing was great. We traveled with 2 kids age 10 and 14 and they loved it too. It wasn’t too crowded and there is lots of things to do. Cancun Palace has the best beach. Staff are so polite and willing to serve.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We went swim with Dolphines and was the best experience. Wet & Wild is part of Palace resorts and you can go there too. We also went to Isla Mujeres, (I expected it to have a nice beach, but it wasn’t that nice, but we went snorking which was great.

We’re planning our 2010 vacation back!

The food was delicious and the hotel personnel were fantastic, friendly and accommodating. Going in August is definitely the best time to travel the hotel was not really full. Take advantage of the free tours and try to go to Chichen Itza if you can. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience. If you go on tours make sure to take hand towels and water bottles from the hotel since these are free. My husband and I will absolutely go to the Moon Palace again - soon!

Traveler's tip

Transportation - call the hotel for transportation from the airport - they have a better deal than the airport transportation.

Traveler's tip

After checking in to hotel time share people who are employees of hotel will act as the info person to tell guests about the hotel amenities etc and then talk about their time share opportunities, but not pushy at all when you say no.

Not what I thought !!

First things first if you are going to Cancun for the beautiful teal water DON’T go to the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort, the water is very dirty and we were very disappointed. Also the hotel is so big it sucks getting around you have to wait for a bus, but the buses do have A/C which is nice. I would not recommend that elderly people stay there unless they plan to just stay on there side, it can be a lot of walking. The beds were horrible, very hard and the rooms just felt old. The golf and spa were really amazing on a positive note. If you are looking for an amazing place to stay with nice water and amazing beds and service stay at The Royal it’s called just that The Royal I love that place.

Poor room service!

Overall, it was a good place to stay. There are variety of restaurants to dine in with variety of international food. The only thing that was very disappointing her was the "room service" in terms of cleaning. I left my room since 8am and by the time I came back to the room to change, it was already 3pm and NOBODY came to clean the room. That is unacceptable especially the amount of money you are paying to stay at the resort. A motel service is faster than this!!! I was very unhappy about that!!!

great time

went to moon palace 8/21-8/26, stayed at the nizuc portion of the complex, which is smaller than the sunrise lobby, smaller pool area and easier access to the beach. worked well for my elderly parents, the sunrise lobby is much larger and in general geared towrds kids and/or large groups. loved each. book private transportation from airport to hotel, we went with kinmont, it was $70 total round trip for 4. no problem with check in, only drawback is that no elevators to the floors the rooms were on. food was excellent, did the buffet for breakfast and lunch, servcie was inpecable, you can’t carry your plate to your table, waiters are there to do it for you. great variety of food. diner was at the brazilian steakhouse, which was excellent, the mexican restaurant, which was outstanding, and at the seafood restaurant at sunrise lobby, good food, but outdoor seating, it was a warm night. service impecable, had a great massage free due to our package deal. bring lots of dolar bills, you’ll want to tip the staff, they work very hard for it. booze was good, top shelf and otherwise was available, no complaints. will absolutelly return first chance we get, did the tolum tour, very hot, stopped at sister hotel for lunch and a swim, good experince.

The staff makes this place.

We were two families that truly enjoyed our stay at Moon Palace. Very family friendly and we had no issues letting the kids do their own thing. The all inclusive was nice. We didn’t have the best experience at the Mexican restaurant. We waited over an hour and a half for our food and it it was mediocre at best. The other restaurants were nice. We only took one tour to Chichen Itza and the actual ruins were interesting, but we felt held captive on the tour bus because we had to take a 45 minute shopping excursion. Then on our way back we stopped at the same plaza for the all inclusive lunch. Honestly, it would have been better to continue back to the resort to have our lunch. I’m all for helping the local economy, but we hated the inability to bypass the above. The staff was absolutely terrific and they bend over backward for their guests. The timeshare things is not heavily pushed so there is no reason to feel obligated in any way. We visited the Cancun Palace and found the water and beach far superior to Moon Palace, but it is more congested and a more of a party atmosphere. Just depends on what you are looking for. We would recommend this place to any of our friends and family. Enjoy.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We did Xplor Activity Park- ziplining, jeep drive, underground river rafting and swim. Great place a load of fun well worth the money. They don’t have the photo ability down yet. Take your own water proof disposable camera. Well worth the money. Their photo ability is sketchy and you have to stand in a long line to see what photos they have of you and your family. They only have 3 monitors. We waited an hour and a half to see 4 pictures of us and we were there all day and did all the activities.

Too far from town

My fiancee and I did enjoy our stay at the Moon Palace, but we wished we had stayed closer to downtown Cancun. The food gets boring after the first couple of days, so we don’t usually like to do all inclusive packages for our entire vacations. We upgraded to the Concierge Level and except for faster check in, it wasn’t really worth the extra money. The spa at the golf course was amazing, make sure you go early to take advantage of the steam room and hydrotherapy tub. We did not go to visit the other Palace hotels, because the bus only ran at certain times. This resort is also quite spread out, but they have a lobby to lobby shuttle bus and golf carts that can take you from your lobby to the next closest one. We did go to the presentation so that my fiancee could get a free round of golf. If you are not at all interested in purchasing weeks, make sure you are firm with your no thank you’s! It took about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish, so not as bad as some of the other hotel chains.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

The shows at the resort are quite good, but make sure to get there a little early if you want to get a seat! The late comers tend to gather all around and end up blocking the view of those sitting around the pool but not in the actual venue seating.
