Will be back!

We were a little surprised by the location on arrival..not what we expected. We were given a room with double beds after we requested a king. We got to our room on the 6th floor and were wondering why the room came with earplugs. After the first night, I asked if we could be moved to a king room since it was our anniversary. We were upgraded to a king suite on the 23rd floor! We had a gorgeous view of the bay, Coit tower and Alcatraz! It was fantastic. The beds were comfortable and the staff was very accomodating! It is a noisy area and we heard sirens and screaming all thru the night. But the whole city seemed to be really noisy. We definitely plan on staying here again!

Not If You Want a Decent Night’s Sleep!

We stayed here based on its convenient location and the promise of a king room with a nice view. That much was delivered, and all was fine until about 3 in the morning, when the occupants of the adjoining room came in. They were not particularly loud -- but you could hear every word of their conversation through walls that must lack sufficient sound insulation. We figured at least we could sleep in the following morning. But their clock alarm went off at 7, and they kept hitting the snooze button every ten minutes for an hour. I have never before in a hotel heard a standard alarm in another room through the walls. The hotel must know of the problem, given the pair of earplugs that were lying on a bedstand. I complained the next morning to the one clerk on duty, and it was evident that she had heard similar complaints before. She said it must have been that the adjoining room had a common door (though it did not); that’s an excuse you might accept from a $39/night hotel, not a Hilton. We had booked through Expedia, and even their intervention produced nothing -- they said Hilton even claimed that there was no record of anyone complaining that morning. (I guess when you tell the one clerk on duty that you just spent the worst night you ever had in a hotel, and provide the specifics I just gave, that doesn’t qualify as a "complaint.") This is a nicely situated property but undeserving of a Hilton.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Avoid this Hilton. In the area, maybe try the Boheme first. Wouldn’t have the same view. But if you don’t need a a Hilton or an Omni, and you’re looking for a place convenient to the North Beach area it’s right there, and has good reviews otherwise.

Great view & location

Haven’t been back for ages and seems like they have done a great update from the Holiday Inn days. The view of Coit tower was excellent and location is easy to get to via car.
