Expensive taste
Hotel was 5 star as advertised. Staff was very accommodating and professional, however the manager was not. During check out the only charge i had was for breakfast buffet for one. Manager commented buffet was "only 40 UROs" When I complained about the cost of Breakfast (40 UROs) or $56, for three pieces of bacon one croissant and some scrambled eggs. I got attitude. Looks like I avoided getting pick pocketed in Venice only to pick pocketed at the checkout counter. Other than that the hotel was very nice and the location was great being only steps from St Marks Square. Previous night we stayed at the Baglione in Florence where breakfast was included.
If you not a near professional race car driver don’t drive in Italy. Autostrada is fast with a lot of trucks curves and tunnels. Average speeds are 80 to 100 MPH, cars are responsive but very small. Local streets are very, very narrow and motor bikes are everywhere. These people know how to drive and expect that you keep up with them. Although they drive very fast there courteous and have great situational awareness. Drivers in the USA could learn a thing or two from the Italians’.

Most Fabulous Hotel in Venice
Ive traveled throughout Europe and I cant give the Hotel Luna and the amazing service staff enough compliments. During our stay, from the moment we arrived via water taxi, we were attended to as if we were royalty. From the hotel manager to concierge, our time spent at Luna was the best experience I have had in Europe. We even stayed an extra night because of the service and beauty of the hotel. Also, the chef in their restaurant is a genius and every course was perfectly matched by the sommeliers master wine pairing.
Traveler's tip on shopping
Lots of small alley way shopping. I avoided the typical fashion stores that are found in any large city (Prada, Gucci, Hermes, etc.) and instead found amazing leather goods for home accessories. True treasures to keep for the rest of your life and to remind you of Venic.
