MoBay Disappointment. It was expensive and inconvenient.

I don’t usually select the all inclusive option because I like to enjoy the local food and people. I was very disappointed that a trip into town was $25 one way for a 15 minute ride. The meals and drinks at the hotel were very overpriced. Our first meal was at the beach restaurant, where our meal was overpriced and served cold. A glass of cheap wine was $10. The concierge was not helpful in helping plan activities during our stay. It was like pulling teeth getting the hotel staff to give you information about the area and getting around. They didn’t seem to have any information about entertainment at the hotel or in the surrounding area. Hotel entertainment is limited. Although, the ladies that sing in the lounge were really nice. The only downtown entertainment provided to tourist is Margaritaville - Are you kidding? - I was in MoBay to hear good reggae music - disappointment. The beach was nice, but a little rocky. The gym and spa services were great. I was married in Negril and celebrated one of my birthdays in Ocho Rios. I wanted to experience Montego Bay, but this trip did not allow for that. The best place to eat is a local spot called Scotchies. That was our best experience. MoBay was a disappointment.

Scotchies has great jerk chicken. It costs $10 one way to get there from the hotel. It’s a very short ride. You make up for the cost of the ride. It’s very affordable, but not fancy. The food is served in foil and you help yourself, but it’s where the locals go for lunch and dinner. Everybody around will tell you about it. Use the restaurant shuttle to get downtown for dinner. If you want to hang out, go to Margaritaville (it’s your only option). They have a shuttle that will take you to your hotel when you’re done partying at midnight til 2 or 3. It will save you 50 bucks for cab fare.

Five Star All the Way

The Ritz Carlton is truly a five (5) star hotel. The room was clean including the linen. The ocean front view was breath taking. The employees were professional and very friendly and made me feel very comfortable I also felt safe in the hotel. This was a very first time in Jamacia and the staff made it a wonderful experience for me. I enjoyed myself so much that I will be returning again very soon and I will be staying at the Ritz Carlton.

Dunn River Falls is a place that you must visit, it was great!

Great except ...

The hotel was great except our room door malfunctioned 95% of our stay. We kept getting locked out or in the room. Each time waiting for someone to let us in or get us out. Too much time wasted on waiting for assistance.

We had a great time. Everyone was friendly and when out of their way to help. The hotel lived up to the Ritz Carlton name.

Can’t wait to go back

This was my second experience at the Ritz Carlton,the friendliness of the staff was amazing,they did everything to accomodate our every need the room was immaculate and the grounds was even more so there was always someone on hand to welcome you back from a day out, or little things like opening the car door for you, we had a great time and would recommend this hotel 100%.

Worst Spa Service

My stay at the Ritz was wonderful, until I had two spa services - A massage and a facial. I have experienced spa services at serveral different Ritz locations and was always satisfied, until the Jamaica Ritz. It was the worst of both services (done by the same person) I have ever had. I must say, my friend, had the same services and loved both.

Completely out of character for a usually excellent hotel chain. Unfriendly, unhelpful, arrogant staff. Provided the bare minimum of information for any question that was asked to them. Ran out of the main course midway through a Sunday night buffet. On the plus side, the physical appearance of the hotel is beautiful.

Food on the island of Jamaica is absurdly expensive. Most restaurant entree prices exceed those of Miami or New York.

best resort in montego bay

the hotel was in good condition and the staff was very helpful and friendly. the only down fall to this resort is that the beach area is very small and the ocean floor has lots of rocks. make sure to eat at the jerk center.

hip strip has a lot of good local restaurants. but the area is not very safe so go during the day.

Best Hotel Stay Ever

Our recent trip was to celebrate our recent 30th wedding day. That news go around fast among the hotel staff. They treated us like a king and queeen. My wife had more love songs sang to her in those few days than during her like. The hotel staff were excellant. There was no case where I did not leave a tip. The hotel room was emalculate. The hotel grounds and transportation to and from the hotel was well arranged. From the time I got off the plane, I knew I was going to have a good trip. The Hotel checks you in at teh airport and you are ready to go. We look forward to visiting again very soon. Take it from me, you could not have a better experience.

There are things to do each day. Use the hotel excursions and plan you days. Transportation is great and is included in most excursions. If you are a golfer, play the Whitewitch golf course.

Friendly staff beautiful suite great food. Can’t wait to go back this was our 12th time at this Ritz. Love the White Witch Golf and the Jerk Chicken.

Lives up to the Brand Promise; Doesn’t include the Restaurants!

The hotel is lovely in every way that one would expect from the Ritz. The service was nearly impeccable. The airport hotel check-in service was amazing and extremely convenient. Items to note: If you are interested in tennis, the tennis pro is not necessarily a pro, but definitely a good person to hit with if you are solo. Unfortunately, the restaurants are not so great. I would avoid them at all cost due to pricing and options. Cab prices to the downtown MOntego Bay are completely ridiculous - $50 round trip for a 10 minute ride. Really rude if you think of it. Best kept secret - the JERK SHACK (JS) on the beach. The JS offers the most authentic, delicious Jamaican food at just a fraction of the hotel food prices. One lunch is enough for two, lietrally and the staff is friendly and professional.

Nice Hotel Make sure you know what you’re buying

The hotel is beautiful, and the beach is pretty nice. We thought we bought an all inclusive package and it turned out we did not. When we got there we realized this when we ordered lunch and were presented a bill for the meal. It’s very expensive if you eat at the resort ($50 a plate). I would just say to verify with the hotel what you think you’re getting and what you’re actually getting.

Hotel service is as important as cleanliness

Isaved and planned for a vacation for my children and myself for over a year. We had anticipated a luxurious 5-star resort stay with activities for the children and relaxation for myself. Instead, I wasted a total of 6 hours during my stay to deal with hotel package,credit card issue(hotel made me call my bank to verify that my credit card was in fact mine-degrading and embarrassing).Not being called by my actual name until the 7th day of stay(hotel staff called me by the name of the previous guest of the room).Discourteous front desk staff who suggested that I need to go to the computer room to print my itinerary out and bring it back to her,a service I know your staff could accommodate. For three days I stressed concern for being billed for what I knew to be part of my package and not until I spoke with Expedia was it resolved,but monies were tied up(greater than $600)for once the hotel clarifed the issue, they told me that I should have spoken with management sooner to resolve the issue.Daily stress while on vacation.Hotel not child friendly.Scheduled activities for children did not occur and one day,I had to host the basketball tournament that was announced but no staff came to facilitate(6 children including my own participated).No balls for ping-pong table, missing pieces to the board games,etc.

Nice, but not worth the money

The ritz-carlton is a very nice hotel... rooms are nice, staff is GREAT, but it is not worth the money! The hotel restaurants were really expensive! In addition, when you check in, the ritz takes your credit or debit card for incidentals, but they do not tell you they will be putting a hold of $200 a day on the card - which for us, was $1600!!!! We had given then a debit card, so that money was locked and we were not able to use it! They also tell you that there is free Wi-Fi - but you have to pay for it. In addition to the hotel being pricey, you can hear everything in the hallway when you are in your room - the rooms aren’t insulated well enough. As another reviewer said, the hotel was doing maintenance on their water for 4 or 5 days we were there, but it was only at night. If you are looking for a expensive resort with nice staff, this is great. If you are looking for fun, activities, and to save some money... pick another resort!

Not impressed at all

When my husband and I selected the Ritz, we were expecting 5 star quality. It felt more like 3 1/2 star. Each night that we were there, the water was turned off at night for maintence. The resort had no adult activities. There were only 3 resturants on the resort and one on the golf course. You would assume that each these resturants were included in the ALL-INCLUSIVE package..wrong! Room service was also NOT included in the ALL-INCLUSIVE package. The only bar/resturant that was open until midnight was NOT included in the package. We were highly dissapointed with this trip.

Welcome Home

Our recent stay at the Ritz Carlton Rose Hall Jamaica was simply fantastic. We received luxury hotel experience with a very personalized service and comfort which gave us the feeling of being home. We cannot wait to go home!

For a family of 4 not opting for a meal package, budget on $450 per day for meals. The hotel meals are pricey. We opted to eat one meal in and dine out for the other two.

Nice place to get away from it all

We had a great stay at the Ritz Rose Hall. The staff went out of their way to make sure all of our requests were met. A chef even made us a requested ice cream flavor! The pool was not the cleanest and the beach was nice, but the sea’s floor was rocky and it was difficult to stand in it. We’ve been to much nicer beaches, but the hotel was wonderful. I’m not sure I’d go back because it was very remote and not much to do outside of the hotel grounds without taking excursions.

Nice hotel but....

Hotel and all staff are exemplary, without question. However please note two items; 1) you are six (6) miles from downtown and taxis are very expensive 2) there is no beach to speak of on this hotel property. This point was a real downer for us.

Because you are six (6) miles from downtown my suggestion would be to make rental car arrangements as part of your package deal. If you don’t intend to get out and about then this point is moot.
