Great hotel
I really liked the Phillips hotel. It felt like an old-fashioned fancy hotel, not like the chain hotels a block away. Everybody was very helpful and courteous. Like the old hotels, there was someone there almost everytime to open the main door for us, and they always greeted with a smile. The room was spacious and comfortable. The location of the hotel is ideal: two blocks away from the Power and Light district (lots of great restaurants) and the convention center. Less than 10 minutes (by taxi) to the Plaza shopping district. Two blocks away from the bus stop. Only small complaints we had was that the bathroom door didnt close all the way (annoying, but no big deal) and the service at the restaurant for breakfast was REALLY slow Sunday morning (we ended up leaving). Other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Would stay here again!
I just love older hotels. The rooms are bigger than in the newer ones. Downtown KC was awesome too! The only disappointment we had was that the Springsteen concert was cancelled due to a death in Bruces immediate family. Other than that, everything was great, especially the stay at the Hotel Phillips!
