We love St. Martin
We have visited St. Martin six times, always staying at the same hotel complex on Orient Beach, the French side. When that complex became condos, we were disappointed. Upon returning to the island, we were prepared to be unhappy; that is, until we stayed at Divi Little Beach. What a wonderful place. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Philipsburg, and the rooms are more than clean and comfy. The service was exceptional and friendly. We will return soon.

A nice out of the way place in St. Maarten
Regarding the Divi Resort, I found the front desk staff to be unfriendly and almost rude. I sent that information to Divi Resorts directly but thus far they do not appear too interested in what I had to say. Other resort staff were OK and one waitress in particular who served dinner one night was excellent. I liked the location of the resort and the fact that it is almost secluded. However you have to have a car if you are staying at Divi Resort. The Thrifty car rental where you pick up the car at the resort turns out to be very convenient. I do not recommend driving from the airport to the resort, especially at night because it is impossible to find -- there are no signs indicating the location of the resort and the street that leads to the entrance is hidden from the main highway. A visit to Maho Beach is a must but check updated flight information because the 747s most people go there to see appear to be notoriously late in arriving. It is worth driving to the north side (French side) of the island and go to the highest point on the island. The views from there are magnificent but it is not for those who faint easily. Climb up to Fort Amsterdam while at Divi and go up to Ft. St. Louis while in Marigot. St. Maarten is a wonderful place for a short vacation.

Divi @ St. Maarten
Great location there it is close to airport, walking distance to Philipsburg and a quiet, good and clean beach. Convenient with car rental on site, grocery store, deli and the restaurants. If you like a quiet place at the beach this is great also for kids. There it is located on a peninsula you have great views especially with the sunsets.
