Paris Latin Quarter at your doorstep
The Hotel Sully Saint Germain is well-located in Paris Latin Quarter, a short walk to Notre Dame, with good access to public transport. The Gare de Lyon rail station was a quick , direct ten-minute bus ride away. Restaurants and speciality shops abound in the neighborhood. By American standards, the room was small, the bathroom a little tight, and the elevator minuscule (3 persons maximum, IF they like each other and have no luggage). The room was comfortable and quiet, and well-heated (important with outdoor temps around freezing in mid-December). I found the bed comfortable, my wife thought it a bit hard. Hotel staff, especially the day clerk, were polite and attentive.

It was only ok. not great.
For my first time traveling through Paris I didnt really have much to compare it to for other rooms in the price range. But as far as my experience in hotels go, the room I received was overpriced and I was not happy with it. The room was medium on my cleanliness scale. The rug was gross. The beds hard, scratchy and small. And the walls were thin in this hotel. I heard every laugh, yell and footstep of everyone above my room and in the stairwell. Too loud for me since the noise lasted until 3am. It was on par with a Travel Lodge room in San Fransisco that I stayed in once.

Will stay there again
Perfect location. Perfect room. Perfect staff. Ask for a room away from the street. It amused us more than bothered us but some might have a hard time with the drunks walking past the hotel after the bars close. For us it was all part of the ambience. No complaints at all. Breakfast was a little expensive at the hotel but if you got coffee, rolls, juice and a cheese and ham sandwich at the cafes you would spend the same amount. Close to a Metro and lots of places to eat.
