WONDERFUL

Our stay at the beautiful NY Palace was over the weekend of Oct. 17. We reserved an executive level room with access to the executive lounge. The Palace staff upgraded us to the 34th floor with an amazing view overlooking the very center of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. The room was very spacious, quiet, clean and comfy. Linens were changed every day. When you push the "privacy" button, house keeping will not disturb you at all. The staff is gracious and eager to please. A couple of doormen/bellmen were rather stiff...some uniforms were not fresh. Over all, they were quick and helpful. There are NO coffee-makers, but room service delivers quickly. The buffet breakfast in the lounge was delicious...bacon, ham, sausage, eggs, potatoes, oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, OJ, pastries and more. Mornings are a little busy. The mid-day snack/lunch included tasty sandwiches and fruits. We requested 2 glasses of wine and it was served immediately at no charge. In the evening there is an open bar with wine, beer etc. No finger foods... only chips and nuts. Cookies, teas and coffees are always available. It’s a great deal even if you only have breakfast and a little wine before dinner. Cheese burgers in the bar were excellent. We had to spend most of our time in the hotel and totally enjoyed it. Next visit, we might try something in the middle of all the action.

wonderful food, good service, comfy hotel

We had a lovely stay at the Palace Hotel. When our plane was delayed for over a day, the hotel graciously waived the change penalty and allowed us to change our reservations. The hotel asked if we were in town for a special event and comped us drinks in the bar for the birthday we were celebrating. We usually prefer Asian-owned hotels or chains because of the quality of service provided, but the Palace was a treat.

Grand Time

The hotel room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. It would have been nice to have coffee/tea in the room. The location was perfect -- walking distance to broadway district and to Central Park.

The hotel is nice, but nothing special for 4*

The hotel staff is perfect, really very friendly and helpful. This is what I liked. As for the hotel - the carpet looked not too fresh (but still nice). The room service was very different from day to day. On one day it was extremely nice (above epectations), but on the other day it was average. And this did not depend on tipping. In case if there would be no that nice day, we would not even know that it could be so nice. Summary. Do not expect something unique - the hotel is OK and is typical 4*, nothing special. The good thing is the view to the Cathedral. We were staying in executive room and our friend in Towers. Tower’s is a little bit nicer but almost the same (difference is in room size and Aqua di Parma toiletteries). I have seen better hotels of the same star level. Personally I will not stay here again, as I like either hotels with more character, or with more "value for money". Still let me stress, NY palace is nice and the staff is perfect, really helful, friendly and open, still did not like the carpet (it should be cleaner) and the whole impression. I liked the lobby, but room is really nothing special and you feel that millions of people used the room before you.

Great place to stay

NY Palace is a great hotel to stay, very centrally located with very good service. The room was quite spacious even of the view was half blocked by a brick wall. Only problem was the bathroom with drainage problem in the shower.

Great Hotel/Great Location

This was our first trip to NYC and a friend recommended this hotel. The service was great. The mattress was not the best I’ve ever slept on but it pretty good. Two blocks from Rockefeller Center and shopping is very close. Our rate was very good for the level of service/quality of hotel.

Traveler's tip on dining

Restaurant Mahoney & Pokory (I think I have this right) next to Hotel had great steaks. It is expensive but very good.

A hidden jewel in Manhattan

We were upgraded to the newer wing above 45th floor. Rooms are big, service is very good, linen and sheets clean. Parking garage right next door. Walking distance to most attractions.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Try breakfast down the block on Madison called Europa. Cheap , freshly made and tasty. Ate once in the Hotel restaurant. Food is OK, but unnecessarily expensive. Will not recommend.

GREAT PLACE

THE GREATEST PLACE IN THE WORLD TO STAY. EVERYONE AND I MEAN EVERYONE WAS SO NICE. JUST DON’T TAKE A CAB. USE PARTNERS EXECUTIVE TRANSPORTATION AS YOUR WAY AROUND TOWN. IT WAS WELL WORTH THE MONEY. MOST OF THE PLACES YOU CAN WALK TO BUT IF YOU NEED TRANSPORTATION USE PARTNERS. THE HOTEL FOOD IS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE, I WOULD GO TO BURGER HEAVEN WHICH IS ABOUT 3 BLOCKS DOWN THE STREET FOR BREAKFAST. WE LOVED THE PLACE. WE WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR.

Traveler's tip

JUST BE PREPARED TO WALK. TIME SQUARE IS ABOUT 5 BLOCKS FROM THE HOTEL.

Fine hotel in the heart of Manhattan

The Palace is a beautiful hotel right in the midtown. It has a classy feel to it. The rooms are clean and large enough. The gym is great and they don’t charge a daily use fee. There is not really a good bar area and I didn’t eat at any of the restaurants. However, the outdoor patio area looks great and serves food. Not cheap, but a great hotel.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The American Girl Superstore is right around the corner on 50th and 5th.

Pure luxury

The hotel was luxurious and opulent from top to toe. The service was excellent with lots of efficient staff on reception and concierge. The location is perfect as other visitors have commented often. In the room, the bed was sooo comfortable and the molten brown goodies divine. All in all a very luxurious experience.

New York Palace Hotel

The hotel is not particularly impressive on entry, actually looks a bit old. There are two parts to it, the main hotel and the ’Towers’. We were in the main hotel, not a great view onto another building wall but the rooms were fine - largish room, clean, reasonable bathroom but not a very modern appearance. I think the Towers side is more modern and probably more appealing for that. Well located though and only 15mins walk to Times Square, 10 mins to the start of the shops on 5th Av., 5 mins to Rockfeller Centre . I would probably look for something more modern next time. Reasonable value.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

On your first day, do the NY open top Bus Tour, 2 day pass, and do the full route and orientate yourself. You can hop off and on these. Good value and informative. Walk the ’Village’ areas, enjoy the river walk and the restaurants. Buy cheaper theatre tickets at the Times Square box office for on the day shows. Walk as much as you can..worth it.

Lovely Hotel away from the glitz and noise.

This was our first trip to New York and opportunity to stay at this hotel. The staff was very courteous and helpful to we novice tourists. We were a little unprepared for the cost of hotel dining and spent all of our time dining at local restaurants-which were pricy also. There was no availibility of free coffee in the lobby or in the room so Starbucks was Plan B-across the street on 51st. Overall it was a terrific hotel with a great view on the south west side corner rooms. We would stay there again.

Traveler's tip on dining

Be sure to have reservations made at the restaurants because we saw several patrons turned away. Especially if you are attending a Broadway show in that area. Your Hotel Conscierge will be a great help here.

Excellent!

We were so pleased with the Palace! Concierge and housekeeping were wonderful and so helpful! Everything was beautiful and clean! Would stay again!

Traveler's tip on dining

The hotel food prices were slightly ridiculous. Plenty of good places around the hotel. Save a few hundred bucks.

Impressive service in New York.

The location is great for getting to shopping, subways and other famous sights. We booked a room that included the exec. lounge - breakfast, mid-day snack, cocktails/horsderves and dessert hour. This is the best value in town. The room was well appointed and staff was very helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Book the exec. level to include breakfast, it will start your day off right and is a bargain.
