Mellow place to relax
Very nice hotel. However, when registering make sure you ask for pool view, not just ocean view. Pool view gives you both views. Ocean view may be small with your room on the side of the bldg. Mellow nighttime entertainment.

Had a great time at the Riu
This was our 5th trip to Cancun. We had a group of 10 people, ranging in age from 40 to 49. My wife and I were happy with our stay, and on the last day, we asked all of our friends if they were happy also. We all agreed, all 10 of us would come back here and stay again. The only issues we had were minor. The drinks were weak, which is pretty common with all the other places we have stayed in Mexico. The cure, order a double!. Better get in line early, 0700 am. to reserve seating in the restaurants, especially the steakhouse. Plus when you tried to make reservations, they would fill up in minutes, but when you walked by at dinnertime, they were never even half full. Dont know if thats the hotels fault or guests not showing up. Chinese restaurant, not good, Mexican and the Steakhouse were really good. The buffets had great food. We wished the Caribbean Sea had bigger waves here, but thats not the resorts fault. Another thing is, its great to eat at the outdoor buffet by the pool overlooking the sea, but you have to watch out for the seagulls, they will attack an unguarded plate of food, but the staff was excellent in trying to combat the birds. Get a bacon omelette, they are awesome. Overall, had a great time. Its pretty good when 10 people get together and thats all we could find wrong in 9 days.
