Very Nice Experience
I spent 1 week with my friend in Cancun, in January and we had an amazing time. Despite those big conventions and conferences hosted at the Gran Melia, the hotel remained quiet and nice and the hotel staff remained friendly and available. Unlike some comments I read about being "harassed" by vendors and people trying to sell us some tours or some trips, we did not get annoyed by anybody! I guess the reason is the low season now in Cancun and we didnt spend too much time at the hotel as well. Overall we had a very pleasant and satisfying experience.

Didnt love it
This hotel was beautiful and very green-friendly. The hotel service staff was unfriendly and unhelpful.

Wont be going back to Gran Melia
First it took us 1 hour to check in and we were with friends. They put us in the timeshare building which was a very very long walk, not sure why they did this. None of the restaurants are very good, there is only 1 bar in the whole place to go to. We ended up traveling away from our hotel and found some wonderful restaurants. Throughout the hotel you would find towels on the floor from some sort of leakiing, this was every day. In the time share area it had a bad smell like must, I believe this was from all the plants they have around. Our friends credit card was billed twice. They take your credit card and you give them a limit if you go over that they will contact you, when you check our they are suppose to rip up the original limit and then you sign for the expenses you incurred. They didnt tear up the original holding limit so he had a headache trying to get that charge off his credit card. The pool was nice and service at the pool was also good. We didnt like all of the constant bus loads of people coming in for seminars, they would fill up the bar at night and it was so LOUD, it was unbelieveable. I love Mexico, but I would not recommend this hotel to my friends.
