Became one of our favorite places

Villa Rolandi was just what we were looking for, quiet, comfortable and effortless. Unlike others have said, the meal plan was easy to understand and like others have said, the food was wonderful. Do use the transfer service offered, it’s effortless from the airport to your room and back. The staff is great and the rooms always very clean. If you are looking for a radically perfect international five star, go to another country. However, if you want some of the best from the Mexican Caribbean, don’t hesitate. The charm is unique and will have you coming back.

take a tour of the island in a golf cart. friendly locals everywhere. don’t be afraid to walk around either.

Not impressed but Isla Mujures best hotel. Would return.

Great service with friendly staff. Accommodations were comfortable with nice ocean views. Swimming pool and beach area a bit small. Hotel restaurant was OK but we thought the Italian dishes were better than than the seafood. Overall a good experience and would return. Nice to have continental breakfasts and newspaper delivered to room.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Take a day trip downtown for some good shopping for jewelry (silver, stones, etc.. Also a lot of T-shirts and typical junk available.

A Great Location to Chill Out

Nice Beach, Lovely Pool, Great Food, and a wonderful attentive staff!! If you like seclusion, Isla Mujeres is A 25 minute boatride away from Cancun and 25 minutes by cab to the nearest town. On the TV: - Just CNN International, but no CNBC or Bloomberg. In these troubled times Its almost Heaven!!

The best vacation ever

I believe this is the best hotel in the island. It’s location is farthest from the central area making it a little more exclusive. Island is small, you can ride your golf cart through the whole island in an hour or so. Service was excellent, chef even cooked something for me that wasn’t in the menu. They will accomodate you however they can. Rooms are clean, food is excellent, room service is very appreciated. The captain in Cocoon II is very friendly, even took the time to teach me a little about driving the yatch. Great place for a honey moon. I would go back every year. at night take your cart or scooter to the center of town where all the hotels are at, you’ll find lots of people, food and things to see.

always have lots of small bills and change for tips.

Off-season service?

The service was decent, but not always consistent. For those prices, the service should have been exceptional.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Nothing is within walking distance, but you can rent a golf cart and roam around the entire island.

Great for a honeymoon

We stayed here for our honeymoon. Everyone was super friendly! Awesome views from all rooms and the food is great. Try the coconut icecream!

Traveler's tip on shopping

Rent a golf cart and explore the island. It took us about 20 mins to get to the other end where all the shops were. The local shops over price everything so make sure you tell them the price is to much and they will give you a better deal.

Wonderful and Relaxing!

My husband and I booked the Villa Rolandi for a weekend get-away. The hotel was fabulous!! The food was amazing! We booked the room with free breakfast and dinner. The only thing not included were the drinks. The "New Profile" restaurant just opened and serves an amazing chocolate dessert that you MUST have if you go there. The restaurant staff was extremely attentive. I was unable to find pictures online of the rooms before our trip, but the rooms are beautiful. Ours had all tile floors with a platform bed, dresser, and t.v. on an upper level. There were three steps down to a built-in sectional style couch and coffee table. Large sliding glass doors led to a patio with a jacuzzi. The view from every room was ocean. TIPS: This hotel requires a credit card for incidentals (as most do), but also had us sign a blank credit slip at check-in. While we were worried about charges from signing a blank document, there was no problem and the slips (3 copies) were returned to us at check-out. If you plan on staying at this hotel, be sure to check the ferry schedule for your return to the airport. We failed to do so. They have a private yacht that they rent reasonably if you reserve in advance. The service was wonderful and aided us in getting to the airport for our 8am flight. The overall experience of the island was wonderful!!

Traveler's tip on nightlife

This hotel is perfect for couples looking to get away... There are no activities at night for singles (Go to Cancun if you want to party) If you want to relax and have peace and quiet away from civilization, this is the PERFECT hotel for you! We really enjoyed the quiet time!

Excellent Experience

We found the Villa Rolandi last year while we exploring the island. They made very reasonable arangements for the trip from the airport to the Playa Linda dock and the catamaran "Cocoon" transported us to the Villa dock. Continental breakfasts are included in the price as well as either lunch or dinner Breakfast included fresh fruit, breads and pastries from the wood fired grill and fresh squeezed juice, coffee or tea and water. Other additional options were available for a reasonable cost. We choose to eat over looking the water and beautiful views. The Tips are not icluded. They had wonderful pizzas, and sandwiches on their homemade breads. The drinks were excellent and reasonable. Dinners were excellent and include salad, entree and wonderful desserts or specialty coffees. The rooms were beautiful, beds, linens very comfortable. There are 2 infinity pools and a salt water spa and huge jacuzzi between the pools. The food was excellent, seafood chicken and beef.We dive and the hotel arranged for the dive master to pick us up from the hotel dock. The beach was very nice..They also have a spa which was lovely. My husband and I had wonderful massages. Definetly stay here. No kids under 13, which made it nice and quite. It was a wonderful stay. Have a great visit. I would definitely suggest going here.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Eat lunch or breakfast in town some days and explore the island. Hildago street is the shopping street and the merchants won’t hassle you too much if you just say "no thanks" Plan on bargaining down prices at least 50%. Avoid the condo/time share schemes at the airport. I bought a beautiful pair of silver earrings and payed about 1/3 of the asking price. Go the the Garaffon park. The southern most point of Mexico. Explore the north end also, the most beautiful beach on the island

Romantic Getaway

If you’re looking for spending time with your loved one, enjoying great food and relaxation, this is the place to stay. There is not much to do on the island, but you will not want to leave the infiniti pool, gorgeous beach and spectacular vista anyway. The service at both poolside and the restaurant is impecable and the food "is to die for."

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Ask for a room on the third floor where the views are the best.

Great for honeymooners

We had a great stay at the Villa Rolandi. The only complaint about the room was we didn’t have hot water in our shower. The water was cold 90% of the time. They sent someone to look at it & that’s just what he did - look - & never came back. I am sure the hotel would have gone the extra mile had we complained more, but, since the shower had a steamer in it, it just wasn’t a big issue. The bed was wonderful, the food at the restaurant was excellent! I’ve traveled a lot of places & have to say, it was great. I wonder why we went into town & paid for food, when the food was so good right where we were. For those who love the beach, this might not be the place for you. The good beach is on the other side of the island & it’s not in walking distance. We rented a golf cart & went back & forth this way. We love being on a great beach with beach activites. There are Kayaks & sail boats available, but, we opted out of that because of the wind. All in all, it’s a really nice place to stay, however, not for my husband & I.

Traveler's tip on shopping

If you want to be "in" town near shopping & the nice beach (Playa Norte), I’d consider staying elsewhere. If relaxing, reading & resting are what you’re looking for - this is the spot!

Swiss Italian delight

The rooms are all immaculate, very comfortable and have lovely ocean views. The meal package was very generous and we were able to taste most everything on the menu during our week stay. The staff is all extremely friendly and accommodating and made our stay very comfortable and relaxing.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

whether you rent a cart or just grab a cab, the island town is charming and much better than the gritty, somewhat garish town of Cancun.

Without question the best kept secret in Mexico!!!!! Highly impressed.

The best vacation experience we have had the pleasure to encounter. Upon arrival in Cancun the hotel arranged everything from the taxi at the airport to the hotel’s private yacht which, then, whisked us away to this spectacular resort. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The pools, hot tub, room and not to forget the amazing shower, in a word.... perfect! The resturaunt will not dissapoint, food, service and the atmosphere is unrivalved anywhere. Watching the sunset over the gulf, dining on some of the finest fresh food you will ever encounter. Simply fantastic! Truly the best trip my wife and myself could have hoped for on our 10th wedding anniversity. We are planning our return trip as soon as possible.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Have ample small denomination American currency on your person for tips, the resort does not keep a sufficient quanity of change on site to break larger denominations.

Loved it!

Everything is great about this hotel. The perfect place to relax. The suites are spacious, bathrooms are hugh, the view from the balconies is stunning, the restaurant is excellent (esp. the seafood and homemade pasta). The beach is not big but very private, pools are beautiful. We loved the service: Whenever you needed something, it was done within minutes. Everybody was extremly friendly and very helpful. We would definitely go back. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing and individual vacation, you are right at Villa Rolandi.

Very impressed.

The facility was beautiful and well maintained. These folks understand clean! They used brooms instead of yard blowers and hand clippers (to cut the grass) instead of weed wackers so as not to disturb the guest! The Spa area downstairs was very nice. Food and service, grade "A+". Water temperature in the pool was perfect. The only downside was the lack of a good snorkeling area in front of the hotel. We will return.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We went to the "Dolphin Discovery" just a short walk from the hotel. It is a m-o-n-e-y pit but we had grand time!

Everything, from the hotel to the staff, was first rate

As a first time visitor to Isla Mujeres I was pleasantly surprised. The Villa Rolandi exceeded my expectations. Having gone to veg out and not answer the phone, it was a perfict property to achieve those ends. I’d go back in a heart beat.

Loved it loved it loved it!

The Hotel Villa Rolandi is an excellent place to stay if you want to get away from the typical tourist areas in Cancun. It’s a beautiful quiet and tranquil get away for those who are looking for relaxation. The food is absolutely wonderful, the staff is extremely friendly and the rooms are beautiful. We had a great time!

Traveler's tip

The hotel has it’s own private boat that will pick you up from Cancun. Also, be sure to rent a golf cart from the hotel and tour the island.

An excellent secluded hotel on a quiet lovely beach

Pluses: Lovely rooms, pretty little beach, attentive friendly service, kayak and golf cart rentals on site, gorgeous view from every room. Minuses: This hotel tries very hard for a truly memorable experience but doesn’t quite make it. The gourmet food in the restaurant is uneven - same menu items range from superb to mediocre depending on the chef’s mood that day. You never know if your grilled whole fish will come moist and flavorful or hopelessly dry, or you might get a fillet instead and see the waiter looking sheepish. They will redo the order for you without a complaint, though. Service is truly a plus. The hotel boasts European management, but if you are a tea drinker, bring your own or suffer Lipton further enlivened by the harsh local water. Continental breakfast included in the price of the room is somewhat disappointing - bread rolls are top notch, coffee is excellent, tea is distressing, Danish and croissants are made by armatures, and the Smuckers jams are as good as one can get at a truck stop. Four light bulbs in our room needed replacing. I suspect they would have done it in a heartbeat had we asked, but we were so impressed by the view we forgot to complain. Conclusion: If you are looking for a reasonably priced lovely secluded hotel with a friendly service away from crowds and are willing to tolerate minor imperfections, it is a magical place.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The supermarket few steps from the ferry will provide most small items missing from the menu or forgotten at home. Borrow the hotel kayak and paddle south 150 feet to a secluded cove not accessible from land for the best private beach experience. If you let the hotel know when you are arriving, they will send a boat to pick you up in Cancun and take you to Isla de Mujeres in style free of charge.

Secluded, luxury.

The Rolandi is a great escape for couples wanting to switch off and have a romantic getaway. All rooms include jacuzzi on the balcony overlooking the ocean, a large 6 jet shower and huge bed. All rooms are oceanfront and also overlook a wonderful infinity pool and large salt water jacuzzi. Lunch or dinner is also included daily and you can choose any 3 courses from a very creative menu. The island is small but fun to explore on a rented golf cart.

Exceptionally Hospitable and Pleasant

The hotel is well designed with incredible views of ocean water and the pool from every room. Our room was built in a tiered fashion so that the outdoor balcony became an extension of the lower sitting area creating an expansive feel and separating the bed and bath areas from the open space. Complimented by a delicious breakfast there could be no better way to start a day. The service was top rate with frequent inquiry from managers and staff on how to better accommodate our stay. While lounging at the pool and beach wait staff constantly kept our drinks refreshed and were quick to offer recomendations on the variety of spirits available. One night, while on the balcony around 1:00am, I saw a staff member run from his position at the desk, take towels from the linen closet, and dart to a room for delivery. Exceptional. While some may think all this luxury would be reserved for special occasions I found that the service and attitude was genuine and could be appreciated for travelers looking for a long weekend type of destination.

Traveler's tip on dining

Eat late at the restaurant and you’ll be joined by visitors/travelers who use the lagoon dock to park their yachts. The atmosphere is lively and adult; don’t expect tequila bandoliers or upside-down margaritas.

A Special Place on Isla Mujeres

I am so glad my husband and I chose to vacation on Isla Mujeres at Hotel Villa Rolandi. It was his 50th birthday and I wanted it to be special so we picked the property that everyone had scored all 5’s. This property did not disappoint. It was beautiful, private and tranquil. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon, they greeted us with cool, scented towels and mimosas. The room was luxurious, the view stunning (we watched dolphins from bed), and the food was yummy. When we had his birthday dinner on the beach, my very husband said the only thing that would make it better is if we weren’t leaving the next day. We’ll be back!
