Nice small and private hotel in Jamica

I stayed in the Garden Room and loved it. Nicely decorated, clean pool, staff were good and had more of a private feel being across the street. Had wonderful landscape as well. Defiantly a good bang for the buck. Excellent water pressure in the showers and good flushing as well. Crucial for those island trips.

Highly Recommend

We enjoyed every aspect of the resort. Excellent staff, beautiful gardens, well maintained, very good resturant and bar, clean clear swimming pools. No negative comments, just a wonderful place.

More than expected for this price!

We were prepared for less than the website promised - and were thrilled when we arrived to find everything the site promised was true, plus some. The staff was always there and ready to help; they even arranged a driver to pick us up at the airport and for an excursion. The rooms were thoroughly cleaned every day. While we chose the less expense garden view (1/2 villa) across the street from the beach, we were happy to have a little more privacy and a very spacious room with a private fenced and covered porch entrance.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

We walked to a local "mini-market" for drinks, bread, peanut butter, etc. and took snacks and lunch with us each day, saving the cost of one meal a day. Also, buy jerk from the street vendors, a bottle of Red Stripe and eat it on the beach or on your porch for a quiet, affordable dinner.

Carefree (almost)

Okay, I loved staying here and really had no complaints until my last night there when my favorite bathing suit, cover-up and flip-flops were taken from my patio (btwn 3AM and 8AM). We stayed on the garden side and felt very secure all week long. There was always a guard either on that side of the street or directly across the street but I can’t say I ever really saw anyone walking around (esp. late at night). I spent many late nights/early mornings sitting on our porch and around the pool and never felt unsafe out there "alone". When I woke up my last day to get in a final swim (in the beautiful sea), all was gone (glad I didn’t leave my camera out there). Security came and took a report and told me the hotel mgmt would probably send me an email. I really was not expecting much from them but an acknowledgment was never rec’d by email or any other way. If I were mgmt, I would have at least offered to pay for my phone calls and/or security box fee (totaling about $15 US). Sooo, I was a little disappointed but you can’t be too careful ANYWHERE you go. I WILL RETURN just won’t leave anything outside over night again :) Peace!

Great room bad food

We had a great time I would not think twice about going back. Our room was on the beach side of the property. The rooms were updated and clean. I work in healthcare and cleanliness is very important to me. The housekeeping staff were great. It is a very nice place to stay for couples and families. The one bad part: the food at Rondel Villiage sucked. We are use to staying at Couples Swept Away where the food is great(maybe we are spoiled). I suggest going to Kuyaba and Rockhouse for food. Both serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, they also provide free pick-up. The meals there were very good. Idle Awhile had an ok breakfast.

Will absolutely return and bring many more friends

I absoluetly enjoyed my stay at Rondel. The staff was extremely warm and accommodating, from the front desk staff right down to our housekeeper. My girls and I enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. Will return this summer!

Not impressed

I just returned from Jamaica on 11/26/07. I nor my cousin (both females) were impressed with this hotel. Where Rondel placed us in the one of the Garden Rooms is across the street from the main building and scenary. We were in the back looking out at the shed. The paths were narrow and very dimly lit at night. The path was next door to someone elses property with their native bushes tall on both sides of the path. The night we spent there we had to walk across the street to the restaurant which is on a path like a maze. The food we had that night was good but took more than 20 minutes to arrive. Lizards were found in our room the next day which we had to extract. If you must stay ask for the side where the lobby is and not across the street.

Traveler's tip on dining

Menu is limited if you plan to stay a long time.

Loved it!

I was roughing it in Jamaica for a month on business and needed a break. It was quaint, quiet and perfect. The ocean was not the most beautiful I’d seen maybe because it had been storming continually for two days prior to my arrival. The food was great even if it took forever to arrive, freshly made I guess...

Traveler's tip

Bring bug spray. Unlike many of the other beaches I visited, Negril is notorious for sandflies.

Jamaica Mon

The Rondel Village is Lush and Gorgeous. The grounds are very well kept and the rooms are very clean. But what made this a special place were the people who are employed there. Everyone takes their positions very seriously. They are helpful, courteous, friendly and they go above and beyond to make sure your stay there is a very pleasant one. I would definitely encourage anyone who I knew was traveling to Jamaica to stay there.

Traveler's tip

Make sure you take some (lots) of small bills such as ones and fives for tips and such. Noone there has any change, or at least they say they don’t so be prepared with small bills.

Cozy, beautiful Hotel in laid back Negril. Will defenetily go back.

Beautiful, clean, Hotel. Get a Superior room, on the beach side. You’love it. Beautiful beach. Beautiful foliage, all very well taken care of. Good food at their restaurant, "Irie at the Beach" Safe area. Went with my 2 daughters, we had a great time. Cant wait to go back.

Take the taxis with the red license plate. Good food at Chicken Lavishe, Kuyaba, for breakfast go to Sweet & Spice and Juicy J’s. The Royal Palm plantation a beautiful place to go. Rick’s Cafe, beautiful sunsets, incredible divers. Take lots of $1.00 bills you’ll need them. Try de Jamaican patties, delicious!! and the Festival!!! delicious dumplings.

Not luxurious, but efficient

This hotel featured bungalo styled rooms that were clean and for those interested in being "green" during their stay. Very clean, a little shabby and friendly service from all with the exception of the restaurant waitress. Small pools and whirlpools were open 24/7. Good for those on a budget.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Ask the friendly cab drivers for where to go and only take cabs with license plates! The others are uninsured!

Would definitely return to this hotel!

This is a delightful place to stay. Our room had two double beds, a small fridge for snacks, a/c, fan, good sized-bathroom, TV, comfortable armchair, a balcony to enjoy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The staff easily changed US dollars for us into Jamaican $ for the times we didn’t want to use our credit card. We enjoyed the open-air restaurant on the premises--food was excellent. There is a helpful security man at the front parking area of the hotel as well as beachside. The hotel is right on Nigrel Beach and it is a lovely place to swim. We would definitely return to Rondel Village on our next visit to Jamaica.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Recommend an early dinner at Rick’s Cafe on the cliffs in order to enjoy the sunset and before that the daredevils who like to dive off the cliffs.

Nice, relaxing hotel

I’m not one for the all-inclusive hotels, I think you miss a lot of the beauty of the island. Rondel Village has all the necessities I need - A/C, hot water, cable, and clean rooms. The staff was helpful and courteous. I definitely go back again.

Traveler's tip

Buy some Sangster’s Rum cream - its amazing.

Great no frills hotel

This hotel is a great small hotel. It is no frills, very simple and clean. Hotel is very conventienly located near many restaurants/bars. It’s right on the beach. Everyone at the hotel was very nice, especially the security personnel and bartender.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Explore the restaurants of Negril -- there is great food! Don’t be scared off by the folks on the beach trying to sell things, just politely say no thank you if you are not interested and they will leave you alone. We walked on the beach at night with no problem - just use your common sense and you will be fine.

Would go back and recommend others to stay at the Rondel Willage

All employees are extremely friendly, open and helpful. Security is the most reliable and supportive with crossing a road or watching your belognings while you are swimming. Breakfast is not included but you can get nice meals at the hotels restaurant on the beach. There are fruitstands and 24-hr little shop near by to buy snacks and a little fridge in your room. Blowdrayer is not in your bathroom, so take one with you if needed. A safebox for your valuables is in your room available for an extra pay. Beach is very clean, many beach chairs are available. A little souvenir shop on a beach by a bar.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

A half-day trip to Mayfield Falls was enjoyable by travelling to mountains, meeting local people and tasting a local food during a lunch (included). But... it is a "wet" tour, i.e. you walk in a water of a rever (have special shoes) and sometimes it gets dip. Don’t take with you small children and any items to a river walk to fully enjoy waterfalls, walk and swirlpools - only a waterproof camera if you wish and have one. You can leave your towels and other clothes in a locker for an extra price.

Great Vacation

We (my daughter and I) stayed here for a week in February ’07. Everyone at the hotel was VERY friendly and helpful. The room was clean and thoroughly cleaned daily by pleasant staff. We’re planning to return. Lots of fun places to eat nearby - Try Montana’s!
