great stay at wyndham azteca!

Me and my husband went on a 3-day stay here and we had a great time. friendly staff and very helpful. room was nice. beds could have been a bit softer ha. The buffet had some pretty good food. BUT the speciality resturants were HORRIBLE. slow service and bland not authentic food. not worth it. i say stick with the buffet, some nights they have themed food... the beach had a great view and it was nice and clean, the activites on the beach were interesting and fun. The hot tub was not so hot at night so i dont recommend that either. when u leave make sure u talk to the tour sponser (expedia or whatever)before the day comes to make plans and times to leave. in jamaica where we stayed the front desk handled all this, but here you are on your own. but besides that this hotel was great and i hope to go back one day

Traveler's tip

(take your own sunscreen and bug rep.) ALSO go to XEL-CA great outdoor natural water park!! great for families

The Some Front Desk Staff Really Rude! Mara and Dhyna!

I was extremly dissapointed with the some of the Front Desk Staff. They were extremly rude! Mara, and Dhyna with Black Glasses(All Front Desk Staff) Although,I was very happy with Alejandra(VIP Services) Waiters, cooks and Gift Shop workers Marciela was wonderful! I came here by recommedation. But will not return.

Not the best - not the worst

Hotel could use a little updating but was extrememly clean and comfortable. Beach included some sandbags, but water was very calm and usuable. There were always chairs in the shade available. Buffet was adequate, but not special. Our reservations for the a la carte were recorded incorrectly by the staff (they gave us the incorrect day - restuarant wasn’t even open that night)- that was disapppointing, as the restuarant are looked very nice. All in all, good value for the money. (We did receive an upgraded room - without a request - that was a HUGE bonus!)

Traveler's tip on shopping

Our transfer driver pointed out the shopping plaza in Playacar - an easy walk from the hotel and a good variety of shops and merchandise. We didn’t particularly want to go into "town," and didn’t have to!
