Hilton Auckland - Princes Wharf
Currently the Hilton Auckland - Princes Wharf is having some external construction being performed so many of the "view" rooms have obstructed views. Given that shortage, getting a "view" room proved difficult upon arrival. The on-site manager did not have any room with king "view" when we arrived other than one with a lousy view. After complaining, he did find a room that had two twins and joined them which worked out fine. The view was nice at that point. The staff was Extremely professional and supportive- first rate. The on-site "white" restaurant had great food, but I found the Princes Wharf restaurants and nearby Via Aqueduct Harbour restaurants to have more variety. Great location. Glad I picked it. Also perfectly central for short walks to Ferry Terminal and Greyline Tour buses. It was the perfect "hub" that required no rental car to see the town.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
Danny Doolans Irish Bar, not a short walk from the hotel has live music every night. Lots of great tunes and fun.

Convenient and quiet
We spent our first two nights in New Zealand at the Auckland Hilton. It was the perfect place to get acclimated to the city, the time zone, etc. The hotel is very modern and is conveniently located in the city center within walking distance of major attractions and with very easy access to the main bus terminal and the island ferry. Our room was spacious, quiet and very comfortable.

Excellent
Everything was great. The staff was wonderful from the concierge to the waiters to the parking valets. We stayed there for our first night and we were allowed to check in early after a flight from the US. We liked the hotel so much we came back and stayed again at the end of our 2 week stay and all of the staff remembered us.
Traveler's tip on dining
Restaurant is great but very expensive
