Good hotels sometimes inconvenient
The Lotus is an attractive small "boutique" hotel. The room was spacious and sparsely furnished. There were no "easy" chairs as such. Hotel does not have an open restaurant on premises. There was what appeared to be an attractive restaurant which was closed for renovations. However, the restaurant next door, the Hau Tree, is excellent and a French restaurant, Michel, is located on the other side of the hotel. Hotel is located at one end of Waikiki beach near a large park. Beach is lovely and not overcrowded. Neighborhood is fairly quiet, with a residential feel. Nearby are the Aquarium and the Zoo (both well worth a visit). City bus No. 2 stops very near the hotel and runs frequently and connects with other routes which afford access to most of the sites in and around Honolulu and Oahu. Unfortunately, I woud not choose to return to the hotel because of the lack of amenities such as a coffee maker or a microwave in the room (there was a small refrigerator), the lack of comfortable chairs, a TV that would suddenly shut down--or come on, and the lack of access to a variety of restaurants.

Lotus Next to Michels
This used to be a "W" but they went out of business and are now called the Lotus. There are only two restaurants in the vicinity and a small convenience store next door where they victimize the poor with their prices....of course everything is ridiculous at Waikiki!!! The park nearby was nice for walking along the oceanfront. The only reason that we stayed in the neighborhood was to accommodate our friends who stay in a condo for a month next door to the hotel. You definitely need a rental car if you want to experience anything else you may way to do as far as eating or sight-seeing. DO NOT RIDE THE BUS!!!! They are dirty and very run-down with years of maintenance required to make them operationable.
