Loved it!
Excellent location right on the Royal Mile. Close to everything! Just a two blocks walk from Waverly Station (last stop on the airport bus route). Comfortable room with a king size bed and great view. Very good breakfast, but service was a bit slow. Nice pub downstairs, perfect for mingling with other tourists and locals. Just one block from a tour company who offers several wonderful tours of Scotland. I felt right at home, and would highly recommend to others. However, appeals mostly to younger travelers due to many stairs (34 minimum) to access hotel rooms and some pub noise. Loved it and would definitely stay there again!!
Traveler's tip on dining
Great restaurant, Bella Italia, right across the street.

Above a pub on the Royal Mile
There is no lobby, just a pub -- you check in at the bar. Robert Louis Stevenson Room was in the front on the first floor. Interesting insect collection decor. A little noisy due to a night club around the corner. Staff was friendly. Location was terrific -- about halfway between the castle and Holyrood. Breakfast was good.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Be sure to walk up the "red crags" (toward Arthurs Seat from Holyrood Palace) to get a great view of the city.
