Great hotel!
We recently stayed at the Embassy Suites in downtown Portland - we chose it based on the location and price/ameneties. We are very pleased with our experience - it was very clean and the staff was very helpful. There was a happy hour with free drinks/snacks for an hour each night - and free breakfast with great homemade omlets. The location was fantastic - we walked everywhere - and because the city is so compact, it was no problem. I would highly recommend this hotel - it was a wonderful experience!
The underground Shanghai tours were very interesting and fun. Being so close to Halloween made the experience all the more fun!

portland visitors
The price seemed a bit high but once we experienced this place we realized this is probably the best bargain in downtown portland! Evening reception and hot breakfast buffet with decent food/selections. Absolutely beautiful hotel! Room was very comfortable although Im a big fan of windows that open and this room did not have them. King Exec suite had 2 42" tvs, refrigerator, small wet bar and a table. Check in was a breeze and the entire staff was professional, friendly and efficient. Nothing left to ask for. Most certainly will return next time around.
A bazillion fun places to go --- portland has become our near get away town of choice. Instead of driving take the Amtrak through the gorge to put the full relax on.

Nostalgic Old Town
This is an historic hotel, once known as the Multnomah, and is GRAND! The lobby is spacious, has a number of couches and large, comfortable chairs. These are grouped for both comfort and privacy. During our stay we enjoyed the eye candy of a wedding party and the youth and energy of a college-related event. The atmosphere in the lobby is both elegant and vibrant. To top it off, there was a piano and pianist in the later evening. Desk staff handled the flow of patrons and requests very professionally. Questions were answered succinctly and directly. Staff contribute to the flavor of your stay, as they themselves come from a diversity of cities and speak with a delightful variation in accent. Our room, overlooking the street and toward the river some three blocks away, was high ceilinged and very well lit. Bed was comfortably firm and the TV large. The Old Town area of PDX has a deserved reputation for being rough. Its suffered from a number of unfortunate news stories in recent months. The news was accurate. Nonetheless, with a little guidance from the desk staff and appropriate urban caution, we walkd to our evenings entertainment, enjoying the air and the flavor of the city. We saw nothing out of the ordinary. We enjoyed walking in the city. I could ask for more convenient parking, but valet is available and encouraged.
