A nice hotel close to the airport
We spent one night at the Fiesta Inn after a long flight and a late arrival in Oaxaca. We were only staying for one night before we drove to Puerto Escondido. The hotel was a nice surprise. It is located in a typical Mexican neighborhood which to some can appear to be a little bit trashy. From the outside the hotel did not look like anything special but when you get inside it is actually very lovely. It is spotlessly clean, has a very nice pool area with beautiful flowers and plants, and a nice open feel. We had breakfast at the restaurant and it was very good and the service was excellent. If you are visting Oaxaca for an extended period of time be aware that the hotel is located a good distance from the Zocalo and the historic district and driving in Oaxaca can be exciting. It might be better to stay in the heart of the historic district but if you want to get away from the noise and excitement and like a nice pool with courtyard area this seems like a nice relaxing place to stay.

Friendly staff - dirty rooms
The hotel is well located in a newer area of Oaxaca and the staff is very friendly as in all Fiesta Inns. The rooms (my party had 2) were below par. Expected cleanliness (vacuuming, shower cleaning) was inexistent. Snot on the wall and traces of blood on the bathroom wall from other guests were never cleaned away. The hotel is reputed to have had a recent overhaul. This does not show.
Have breakfast on the Oaxaca main square. Delicious, delightful, cheap and entertaining.
