Bad experiance

Resort is built in a big hill, which was not mentioned in any information. Hotel room temperature was not adjustable - was set on 27 degrees Celsius. Cleaning crew showed up not earlier than 5pm. Personal belongings were missing after the 2nd day. Food variety was very monotonously. Water quality from the pool was very poor/ unhealthy.

Traveler's tip on shopping

On site Mini-Mart had a very small selection and is very pricey.

After seeing the reviews I expected this hotel to be horrible- Not True!

The staff was overly nice. I was prepared to eat the worst food, so I packed some stuff just incase, but never had to whip it out once...lol. In the restaurant there is Costa Rican food, and also other American food. (Buffet style) In the evenings you are able to go to either the buffet or reserve at the Italian or Mexican restaurant. It is true that some of the buildings were far away from the restaurant & pool, but it was only a five min walk from our building and there’s always a bus that goes to each bldg. The better bldgs were 5 & 6 (I called for recommendations prior to my vac) I stayed in building 6 and was still able to get wireless connection on my laptop. (You are only suppose to be able to pick up the wireless signals around the pool, lobby & restaurant areas) Wireless costs $25 for your total stay. It was worth it for me as I used skype a lot. I was not able to pick up a wireless connection from my iphone in the room, but I could from the restaurant, lobby & pool area. Do not buy a transfer for airport rides to & from the hotel prior to trip. Catch a cab! There are plenty of cab drivers waiting outside the hotel. I believe the transfers would have been $150 per person for a round trip transfer. When I called the hotel, (prior to the trip) they told me that the cab fare was $40 in total each way. So off the bat I saved $220. The cab driver tried to charge me $55 at the airport, but I talked him down.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Call the hotel first to check out prices, on tours, etc... It was cheaper to book the tour once I got to the hotel than online. It cost $120 per person online it cost $220 per person. The Mega Combo Tour in Buena Vista was more bang for your bucks. This included the Zipline 1,500 ft. water slide, 40 minute horse back riding, mud & natural spring baths. It was an all day trip from 8am - 5pm & included lunch (buffet).
