GREAT LOCATION!!

hotel california was a very nice hotel.. The prices are outrageously cheap, you are in the PERFECT location for anyone visiting Florence. It is a prime location.. My room had a view of the top of the dome, and it is on the same street as the museum that houses the Statue of David. very neat, updated bathroom, PERFECT HOTEL.. THE ONLY problem I would say I had with this hotel was being a 23 year old who used to live in Florence, I would visit my friends for dinner, then go out to a bar, or club, and come back late, around midnight, or 1am.. and on weekends I would come back around 3-3:30am.. (typical for someone my age in a place that has a great nightlife).. and the woman who works the night shift would LOCK THE DOORS and I would have to buzz the bell on the streets for her to let me up.. Well that would be okay except the woman would fall asleep, and not wake up for the bell. One night I was outside for about 10 minutes constantly ringing the bell, which is not good at 3am. And every time, she would let me up, she would be nasty with me, sometimes just throwing the keys on the staircase because she knew it was me buzzing up, so she can get right back to her sleep. She was my only problem, other than that, the other staff was perfect.

go to aqua al due, and order the blueberry steak

A stone’s throw from everything!

A lovely hotel currently being updated and rennovated! While we were there, a new elevator was put into use that makes reaching the front desk from the street more intuitive and easy. A block from the Duomo, a block from the David, the location couldn’t be better. Eat at little restaurants on the side streets--very reasonable. Walk, walk, walk!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Go to the Duomo Museum (located just behind the cathedral); it’s a gem--spend the couple of euros for the audio guide. Not crowed and full of interesting art and artifacts. Eat gelato at every opportunity!

Good hotel in good location

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was very reasonably priced and was in a great location (about 2 blocks North of the Duomo). Hotel staff was very friendly and spoke English very well. Only complaint is that the tub/shower did not have a shower curtain, which gave us a difficult time keeping the bathroom floor dry.
