Finest hotel in Manhattan

Yes, the nightly rates are more than many people pay a month for rent- but you get what you pay for. The expedia special rate with the club lounge access was especially appreciated. At many hotels a club lounge means some pretzels and cheap chardonnay. At the Ritz, it entails five different food and drink servings a day, all of which are arguably as good as any restaurant in the city. Every detail is absolutely perfect. How about a hotel that gives you a wood shoe box to leave your shoes outside the room door at the end of the day (in one case for me, at 1 am) and the next morning by 7am your shoes are returned polished and shined, complimentary? That’s no exaggeration, and probably the most succinct example of what sets this hotel apart. And how about getting on the elevator to go to your room, and one day standing beside the prime minister of Pakistan; then the next day standing beside a very well known hollywood star? No trips out needed to see the famous folks when you are "in residence" at the Ritz... I will have to save more for all my future NYC trips, because after staying here there is no way to go anywhere else.

Great service, great location. It is NY and it is the Ritz so everything is ridiculously priced but if you are considering staying here you already knew that.

Great location for fair price

I got a deal on this hotel so it was not extremely expensive, the location was the best you can think of in Manhattan (across Central Park), and everything in the hotel was quite good except my room only had a shower and no bathtub. Our friends stayed in another room for the same price and they had a tub.

Excellent Service, Location, and Amenities.

Outstanding Hotel

This was our third stay at a Ritz Carlton (the others were in San Juan and the US Virgin Islands). We have always been very impressed. The suite was bigger than my first bachelor apartment and beautifully decorated. We took advantage of the Club lounge (as we had on our previous vacations) for making theater arrangements, and their foood and drink "presentations" were outstanding. The Club arrangement costs quite a bit more, but you save a lot on breakfasts, lunches, cocktails, and desserts. Always service with a smile: "It’s my pleasure."

service and room was lacking

very surprised at the 5 star rating. maybe yrs ago, but has not been renovated in years. cleanliness and room comfort were lacking. had better service at a sheraton or hilton.very surprised and would not stay again for free.

Great location; Great beginning

I picked this hotel solely for the location, however the hotel met every expectation I could have had. The club level was incredible, so good, in fact, that you really never have to leave the hotel. The hotel also gave me a great good upgrade.

My wife and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary. The hotel staff were the best we’d ever seen in our travels. Extremely friendly and courteous throughout. Room could have been a little bigger, but was in super shape and had all the modern amenities. Bathroom tremendous as well. Two complaints I have are the mattress and the hotel restaurant. Mattress was extremely uncomfortable and thus caused sleepless nights. Restaurant food was passable, but we’ve had much, much better at lesser hotels.

Neat thing about being next to Central Park is that the horse-drawn carriages line up right across the street from the hotel. Columbus Circle is also very near by and neat to see. We also had dinner at the Tavern on the Green, and the atmosphere was great, food just okay.

5 stars and extremely polite.

Everything at this hotel is what you would expect from a five star hotel. I liked the fact the doorman had my bags put in my chauffeur’s vehicle waiting for me while I was having lunch down the street to take me to LGA. The individual in the business center was extremely helpful at 7am to help me get some presentations printed for a meeting I was running late for.

Excellent Hotel

Return visit by choice. Hotel staff is extremely attentive. They even left a CD in our room for my granddaughter as a gift. We also recieved a room upgrade with a view of Central Park.

The hotel staff was helpful and polite, the service was extraordinary. the concierge’s quality was great; they helped us to get great tickets and dinner reservations. The room was comfortable and the hotel is well kept. we really enjoyed our visit.

I don’t usually respond to cust. satifaction surveys, but our experience begs a response. There was absoulutely nothing the Ritz could improve upon. They made our stay comfortable and memorable. This is our 2nd Ritz experience, and it appears that there exceptional approach is a corporate philosophy. We have never had a better hotel experience, and we stay at a lot of 5 star hotels. When we return to NY, we would only return to the Ritz Carlton. Well done!!

TOTALLY AWESOME!!!

Took my wife for a surprise birthday trip. Staff treated us like royalty. Champagne and roses in the room on arrival! Extremely clean. We had a standard room with a view of the Avenue and about 30% of Central Park which was fine. Truly a five star experience!

I took my daughters and the staff was wonderful in accommodating everything we asked for. A great location for walking to a lot of the NYC areas. Can’t find anything that I’d want that the Ritz didn’t provide.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you are going for the first time, take the Greyhound 48 hour bus pass. You can hop on and off, learn a lot about the city (each guide gives their own slant to it) and enjoy the different areas of the city.

Definitely worth the money

The hotel staff was outstanding.The doormen knew our names and addressed us personally each time we left and returned to the hotel. We were treated like we were celebrities! Our room was gorgeous. They’ve thought of every amenity possible. We had a Avenue Suite with Club Access. We lucked out and got a suite with a view not only of the avenue, but of Central Park! Having Club Access is far more than a convenience, it is royal treatment extraordinaire. Food & drinks galore. And not just your run of the mill food, try sushi, caviar, champagne! We can’t wait to indulge again. Definitely worth the money.

New York’s Best Hotel

My husband and I have stayed at several hotels in New York, this by far is the best hotel. We have stayed here twice now and the service, comfort, etc. is the best.
