Sun Valley Lodge is awesome.
The hotel was beautiful. Loved the little shopping village. Food at the deli and coffee house was excellent. Enjoyed a movie at the Opera House.

Exactly as expected
This place is cut from the same cloth as all the other "Little America" hotels. Though this place is a bit older, some might say a bit more dated, the rooms and bathrooms a bit smaller than some of the others in the chain, the hotel and service are certainly of the same high quality. Our room was spotless. We requested extra pillows from house-keeping and they showed up in about 5 minutes. If you’re expecting a contemporary place, with a lot of glitter and glass, you’ll likely be disappointed. But if you enjoy what some of us might call timeless class, don’t worry, you’ll enjoy this place. The room rate we paid was very reasonable. About the same as other local hotels. If you eat in the hotel, expect great food and service at what might be considered moderately high prices. Don’t miss the Photo Gallery in the lobby if you enjoy seeing old photos of celebraties and world leaders who’ve been there over the years.

A fantastic resort that always gets better
The Sun Valley Lodge (and all Sun Valley properties) are a totally first class experience. The staff know the meaning of "hospitality"...the guest is always first. All amenities are exceptional, new things are constantly added on (like the beautiful new golf lodge and the addn’l 9 holes...or the gondola for ’09/’10)...but Sun Valley has a grace and class all its own, very much steeped in its history (and one of overall excellence). Great town and area too....one of the best places to stay I know of re elegance and luxury, but mixed w/ a casual comfort.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Do some of the "tourist" things on your stay, as they’re great. Summer: Ice Show, new amphitheater, hit all the pools (one at each hotel, plus Olympic/jacuzzi), ride the lift on Baldy. Winter: Trail Creek Cabin sleigh ride, pools (again!), skating rink, etc., etc.. Lots to do!
