DO NOT STAY IF YOU NEED SLEEP

We booked this hotel because it seemed really cool and we loved the pictures as well as the location. We really were looking forward to a good night of sleep. When we walked in we noticed a club was in the lobby. WE asked if we would be able to hear the music and the lady said not if we were on the 3rd floor. We asked to be on the fourth floor. At 11:30 pm, we were awakened by the thumping music, loud voices in the streets and horns honking. This noise was so loud I woke up even after sleep medication and ear plugs. We were told that this would not end until 4 am. We had to pack our stuff and walk to a different hotel at midnight. They were kind enough to switch us to their other hotel, but it was a MAJOR inconvenience.

Awesome place but not for the light sleeper.

The place was great. Located only a couple of blocks from the french quarter it was perfect for walking around during the day. The desk staff was great, they even gave us an upgraded room at check in which was a pleasant surprise. The room was very neat and clean and the modern decor is a nice change from the typical hotel room. The only thing to be aware of is the noise from the bar downstairs. We were on the 4th floor and seemed to experience more noise from the people outside coming and going that came through the windows than from the music from the dj. It is NOT for the light sleeper. It didn’t bother us at all and we had a great night of rest on the very comfy bed but if you have a hard time sleeping with minimal noise then be forewarned this is not for you. As for us we will be back, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Almost perfect, BUT...

Loft 523 was very nearly everything we were looking for. A funky modern design in a slightly out of the way location - still very close to everything to be convenient but far enough from the chaos to still be relaxing. Except for one big thing...they have a nightclub next door that is REALLY loud and runs REALLY late. Reminded me of college dorms. We were on the 4th floor in the front and even that high up it was still unacceptable. A bad nights sleep is kind of the baseline for a hotel - an no matter the other plusses, if you can’t sleep, the rest doesn’t matter. The hotel staff all acknowledges that the club causes problems for visitors. Clearly we weren’t the first to complain and I’m certain we aren’t the last. If they ditch the club, I’d recommend Loft 523 in a heartbeat. With the club? We’ll keep looking...
