Hidden Unique Gem
It could be difficult to find, but once you have, you will be glad you did. This hotel is actually many buildings of four units apiece that are huge and all have balconies facing the sea on the prettiest, most remote area of Kauai. The buidings are tucked away in trees and lovely landscaping, and the beach is great for walking. Monk seals sleep on the beach that has high surf, probably not good for swimming. There are no TVs, but the wireless Internet connection worked beautifully. This was truly one of the most unique places Ive ever stayed. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Very Nice Resort
We began our 10 days in Hawaii on Kauai, staying for 5 days at the HCR. Perfect place for a laid back stay. Great service, the onsite restaurant is nice and we had a great meal, just close enough to everything in Hanelei but far enough away so you have some space. Our condo had a great ocean view, was very clean (recently remodeled), and very comfortable. While its on the beach, you cant really swim there; no problem - there are plenty of beaches around. We had a great stay and would stay there again. They also have a pool but we didnt use it. Free towel service for the beach was nice. On site coffee shop was good as well. Overall, we had zero complaints.
There are many places to rent snorkel gear in Hanalei - I cant remember where we went but its right in town. 5-7 bucks a day. Go to Kee Beach for easy snorkeling; Tunnels for a better but more difficult experience (more coral). Recommend hiking the Kalalau Trail. Hightlight of our trip. We did 2 miles in, and 2 miles up to the Hanakapiai Falls and back. Bring lots of water and good hiking shoes. It was tougher than we anticipated but so much fun and so beautiful. Rent a car if you stay at HCR - most places are a short drive away. And explore the whole island! We went all over the entire island - lots to see. We also took a Jack Harter helicopter tour (doors off). Well worth it. Its great to see the whole island after youve explored it. Waimea Canyon was great as well. Defintely buy a Lonely Planet and/or Ultimate Kauai Guide Book. Those plus knowing people from Kauai were indespensible.

Will be Back!
Absoultly the best place to stay on Kauai. Beautiful to sum it up. Views were excellent!Very laid back and secluded. Just what we were looking for. We will never go back to the hussel and bussel of Oahe again. We have found our piece of paradise.
