Slow and smelly

The desk clerk did not seem to know how to check me in but perhaps she was in training. My strongest complaint was that I had requested, a non-smoking room and when I checked in around 4:30PM in the afternoon, I was told that such a room was not available, only a smoking one was available. Then she assigned me to a first floor Handicapped room with shower. Then when I moved my car she caught up with me to tell me she couldn’t give me that room. Since I had a Conference banquet to attend in an hour, I agreed to take another room, a smoking room. The room itself was O.K. but was permeated with smoky smell. Upon checking out in the early morning (7:30AM), before going to my COnference which would last past the official check out time, I found an empty office with a note propped up saying the clerk was on the grounds and would be back soon. Later, I returned to the office where I found out that the clerk had been in the back room, having forgotten to take her sign down. She did not give me a final receipt, saying it was on Expedia account.

Just awful

The room was absolutely attrocious. The door didn’t shut all the way, much less lock properly. The carpet was stained all over. The toilet had some sort of reddish rust-looking spots all over the bowl. The kitchenette area was so filthy we didn’t even want to put leftovers in the refridgerator. I will NEVER stay at this hotel, or any Sun Suites hotel again.

Traveler's tip on dining

There is a fabulous spot not far from here called Boudreaux’s. It’s a great place for families. They have all the Cajun staples, plus plenty of American options. My 4-year-old LOVES their chicken strips. Plus, they make some incredible drinks.

Good for the price and well located

I will hardly suggest to do something about the bugs,, we saw several of them in the room.. despites this, all other things were in order.
