Not a Fancy Chain
The hotel has character. It was clean. The staff was very helpful. The room wasnt overly large but not small either. The room had REAL double hung windows and you could open them for fresh air. Parking was free and a couple of blocks away but the walk was through a very pleasant neighborhood with interesting shops. One of the reasons we stayed here was so we could take the "L" into Chicago for shopping and theater. 1/2 hr to the loop and NO hectic traffic. On our next visit, we may just stay in the Oak Park area and see the local "old" Chicago sites.

Was what we expected
After reading other reviews, this hotel was pretty much what we expected in that it was a charming, historic building. Our room was large and had everything we needed. I surprised by how clean and well maintained it was. The TV had very few stations which could be a problem for some travelers and we could hear noises from other rooms but we didnt hear the banging of doors and car trunks at 6 am which happens so frequently at chain motels. Also the train was a convenient and quick way to get to Chicago. We took GO transportation from the airport and thought that was a rip off. To return, we took the EL into Chicago, walked to Union Station and put our luggage in a locker, spent the day downtown and then took the EL to Midway.

Good Experience
We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the historical value of Write Inn. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Parking is not great, but the location makes walking more fun.
