The Little Things (like an elephant)
Great experience! The room was very clean with modern amenities - beautiful tub for a soak; wonderful shower with optional elephant shower head for the ultimate dousing; very comfortable bed. There was a complimentary fruit bowl and silk elephant. When I asked the front desk where we could purchase another elephant, they sent another one up to our room; compliments of the house! There is a free shuttle bus that goes from the hotel to the sky train station so you dont have to hoof it in the heat. If you choose to walk to the station, it is a straight shot from the hotel and not too far. There is a mini-shopping area in the same building on the first 3 floors. There are restaurants, pharmacies, a grocery store, florist, clothing shops, etc. Very convenient! There is a little plaza with good eats on Ruam Rudee (road on the back side of the hotel) just next door to the hotel - ask the front desk. Great stay!
Traveler's tip
Subway and sky train are the most efficient way to get around town. Taxis are plentiful but the traffic can really slow you down. BTS sky train offers three types of tickets - multiple ride cash card, multiple ride trip card, and single ride tickets. MRT subway has multiple ride cards and single ride tickets. BTS and MRT ticket systems are not yet linked.

Always my first choice when staying in BKK
I always thoroughly enjoy my stays at the Conrad. The service is impeccable, the rooms magnificent (the bathroom is quite an attraction in and of itself) and while the location isnt ideal - its about a 10 minute walk to the BTS - a shuttle bus service can also take you if you dont mind the wait. I particularly enjoy lounging in the Diplomat Bar after work.
Traveler's tip on dining
Soi Texas in Chinatown has some the best seafood restaurants in the city. Rut & Lek is one of my favorites. Its open only in the evening and its on the sidewalk-corner of Soi Texas & Yaowarat. The other sidewalk restaurant opposite it is quite good, as well.
