great deal
The hotel was great for our needs. It was clean, comfortable, and at a great location. It is an older hotel, but the staff does an excellent job and it is well taken care of. The pools at the hotel were wonderful, but they closed at 7:00pm. It just seemed too early. We were gone all day and would have enjoyed using the pools in the evening. Also, there were no coffee pots in the room. We did not book a kitchenette (which I assume have coffee pots)but, coffee pots tend to be standard in hotels. So, we were a little disappointed about that. The hotel did have coffee in the lobby, but is was a dollar a cup and not very tasty. I suggest to the hotel that they provide coffee pots in all rooms and sell "Hawaiin Coffee" in their shop. You would make a much larger profit. Overall we were extremely satisfied with our stay. It is a great hotel for the price and if we stay on the eastern side of Kauai we will stay at Kauai Sands again!

Kauai 2009 Sands
This is a wonderful two story old hotel, our room was 38 steps to the pool and 58 steps to the ocean. This is our second stay and we love it and look forward to another stay ver soon. The pool was beautiful, warm and clean, it needed a little repair around the edges but still very delightful Within walking distance to the Coconut Marketplace with all your Hawaiian gifts and wonderful fish dishes..

would stay again
This hotel needs some updating but it was definitely centrally located and adequate for our needs. If you are looking for a place to get a good nights sleep and show this is the place. We were out all day so didn’t need a resort. The price was right. Too bad the restaurant wasn’t up and running - would have added an extra star!! Egberts in the Coconut Grove Market Place next door was a great place for breakfast and the Coconut Market Place was great for shopping and snacks. I definitely would stay here again!! But they should really spend and renovate!! Oh, staff was very friendly and helpful.
